About this position: Run CoachLocation – Coronado, CA The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Wage/Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 Applicants will be notified via phone or email within ten (10) business days of submittal. Responsibilities Provide instruction and coaching to candidates who are in the Naval Special Warfare Orientation courses of instruction. Engage daily with junior sailors, adhering to the highest standards of conduct and providing professional, administrative and technical support to achieve program goals. Perform physical testing in accordance with established guidelines set forth in OPNAVINST 6110.1 Physical Readiness Program. Meet minimum PST standards within 30 calendar days of physical check‑in to NSWCEN/NSWBTC in line with current MILPERSMAN 1220‑410 and maintain fitness level to pass standards yearly. Complete the NSW High‑Risk Instructor Training Course within 30 calendar days of hire. Qualify as a High‑Risk Safety and Training Instructor following HRITC. Qualify within BTC NSWO specific CUIT and ELI requirements. Adhere to all NSW Policy, Instruction and guidance pertaining to training evolutions. Perform administrative functions of the assigned NSWO phase, including: Access Personal Identification Information and potentially Personal Health Information subject to HIPAA requirements and safeguard it accordingly. Track student performance as they progress through the NSWO training pipeline. Record student performance, testing and other metrics within the NSW Individual Training and Readiness Management (ITRMS) database. Coordinate with NSWO leadership to identify trends and improve performance. Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health and Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related physical training field. Experience: Four (4) years of recent (within the last 6 years) equivalent experience working as a coach or physical fitness leader in a comparable field and environment. Valid running and/or endurance sports certification from the United Endurance Sports Coaching Academy ( or Road Runners Club of America ( Completion of the High‑Risk Training Course (HRTC) or Executive Level HRTC within 30 calendar days of hire. Ability to maneuver around and see, hear, and verbally communicate with co‑workers and contractors; visual acuity to review written documentation and understand speech at normal room levels. Completion of High Risk Instructor Training Course provided by the government. Capability to qualify as an ATV operator. CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid qualified. Current and valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to operate government vehicles. Ability to obtain or possess SECRET Clearance. Screened for professional, physical, and psychological suitability as a high‑risk training instructor. Pass random drug testing at least twice annually. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). Task‑oriented, self‑motivated, able to multi‑task, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and collaborate as a team member. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to interact with leadership. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide directions. Preferred Previous experience related to the essential duties and responsibilities outlined for this position. Supervisory Responsibilities This position will not have supervisory responsibilities. DOT Covered/Safety‑Sensitive Role Requirements This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety‑sensitive” functions. Additional Qualifying Factors As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre‑employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
