What You’ll Do: Prepare patients for visits and accurately document in the electronic medical record (EMR) Take and record vital signs, including pain scale for all ages Collect patient histories, medication lists, allergies, and other key health information Assist providers during exams and procedures Perform screenings such as hearing, vision, EKGs, peak flow, and more Conduct approved point-of-care testing (POCT) and collect lab specimens Clean, disinfect, and restock exam rooms throughout the day Support patient flow to reduce wait times and improve clinic efficiency Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care team members Follow infection control policies and properly dispose of biohazard waste Respond to emergency situations and adhere to clinic protocols Assist with translation for Spanish-speaking patients when applicable Learn and support medication administration under supervision Complete required training and perform other duties as assigned What We’re Looking For: High school diploma or equivalent Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program Certification as a Medical Assistant through a nationally recognized accreditation organization (Must provide proof of the required certification) Current CPR certification Bilingual in English/Spanish helpful 0–6 months of clinical experience (new grads encouraged to apply!) Strong communication, customer service, and computer skills (MS Office) Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed Valid Texas driver’s license (or ability to obtain) and reliable transportation Must be able to travel/rotate between Texas City and Galveston clinic locations Must comply with GCHD immunization policy and ics training requirements Must pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening Preferred Qualifications: Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) Previous clinical or externship experience in a healthcare setting Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
