REGISTERED NURSE/LPN - PREOP/PACU- PRN

Excellence in Perioperative Patient Care Position Impact The PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse ensures optimal patient outcomes by providing expert perioperative nursing care at AICA Orthopedics' state-of-the-art Surgery Center. This is a PRN position once a week on Tuesdays from 6AM-3PM. This position directly impacts patient safety, satisfaction, and surgical efficiency by managing the critical transition periods before and after procedures. Your clinical expertise, attention to detail, and patient advocacy ensure every patient receives exceptional care during vulnerable moments of their surgical experience. Core Responsibilities Preoperative Patient Management Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments including vital signs, medical history review, and identification of potential surgical risks Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedural consent in accordance with surgical safety protocols Perform preoperative testing including blood pressure monitoring, glucose checks, and pregnancy screening as indicated Educate patients and families on perioperative expectations, discharge instructions, and post-procedure care requirements Communicate critical assessment findings to surgeons and anesthesia providers prior to procedure initiation Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Operations Monitor patients during post-anesthesia recovery, assessing vital signs, pain levels, and neurological status Administer medications and interventions to manage post-operative pain, nausea, and other complications Recognize and respond to potential post-operative complications requiring immediate physician notification Ensure patients meet discharge criteria before releasing to responsible adult with appropriate home care instructions Conduct post-discharge follow-up calls to assess patient recovery and address concerns Clinical Excellence & Documentation Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation of all perioperative nursing care in electronic medical records Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based perioperative nursing practices and regulatory requirements Prepare and maintain perioperative areas ensuring equipment, supplies, and medications are properly stocked Serve as Alternate Director of Nursing when primary administrator is not present Required Qualifications Graduate of accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) Current active Registered Nurse license in Georgia Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification Current BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support) certification 2+ years of perioperative nursing experience (PreOp, PACU, OR, GI lab, or pain management procedures) Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail and clinical accuracy Strong critical thinking skills with ability to recognize and respond to emergent situations Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to educate patients and families effectively Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred Preferred Qualifications CNOR (Certified Perioperative Nurse) or CAPA (Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse) certification Experience in orthopedic or ambulatory surgery center settings Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) What Sets Our Top Performers Apart Our most successful PreOp/PACU nurses consistently demonstrate: Exceptional clinical judgment that anticipates patient needs and prevents complications before they occur Calm, reassuring presence that reduces patient anxiety and builds confidence during vulnerable moments Proactive communication with surgical team members to ensure seamless care transitions Meticulous attention to safety protocols and documentation standards Commitment to continuous learning and implementation of evidence-based perioperative practices Ability to remain calm and decisive during urgent clinical situations Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly compensation commensurate with experience Performance-based bonus potential tied to quality and efficiency metrics Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance Short-term disability coverage Generous paid time off and paid holidays Professional development opportunities and continuing education support State-of-the-art surgery center with modern equipment and technology Collaborative work environment with multidisciplinary team of specialists AICA Orthopedics is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in our organization.
