Overview
Position: Family Medicine Physician
Location: Fort Riley, Kansas
This role is situated at Fort Riley, Kansas, and is part of a Direct Hire Solicitation. Candidates new to federal service may have the opportunity for salary negotiations. Federal civilian healthcare providers are not required to carry medical malpractice liability insurance, as they are protected under the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while performing their job duties.
The Irwin Army Community Hospital (IACH) is ideally positioned in the picturesque Flint Hills region of Northeast Kansas. ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:
- Adhere to hospital policies and regulations while facilitating patient access to appropriate medical care and referrals to other healthcare providers.
- Deliver direct patient care within a Medical Treatment Facility.
- Provide consultative opinions to fellow physicians and healthcare personnel.
- Oversee healthcare services provided by non-physicians.
- Maintain health and clinical records in compliance with current regulations and standards.
- Determine when to seek advice and guidance as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the educational and experiential criteria outlined below. Experience includes both paid and unpaid work, such as volunteer roles through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, community, student, social). All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be considered. Your resume should clearly detail your relevant experience; if qualifying through education, transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Basic Requirements for Family Practice Physician:Degree: Candidates must hold a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by recognized bodies such as the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. For degrees obtained from foreign medical schools, candidates must demonstrate equivalency through permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
Graduate Training: After obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, candidates must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited hospital or institution.
Residency Training: Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in Family Medicine, along with equivalent experience and training totaling at least four years. Experience cannot substitute for the residency training required for this specialty.
