Product Operations Manager – Austin, TX -- hybrid

Our Austin, TX client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Pro du ct Manager to own the end-to-end user experience, technical deployment requirements, and readiness layer for our client’s programs and platform as we move toward research, enterprise, and commercial deployments. This role ensures that each phase of the product is ready to work with users, operators, and real-world deployment environments. Success requires the ability to look across the full system - hardware, software, signal quality, protocols, user experience, operator workflows, documentation, training, and field execution and identify what must be true for a deployment to run successfully.

You will own the product's practical testing and deployment layer - puts headsets on users, supports structured testing, validates fit, comfort, usability, and signal quality, captures field observations, and translates those findings into clear technical and operational requirements. You are responsible for making sure the product not only works in theory but also in the hands of real users and operators. This is a permanent opportunity with a starting salary of $130,000 (larger range for more experience) and a great benefits package. The selected candidate will work a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office , and at this time , there is no C2C consideration.

Working closely with cross-functional teams across product, research, hardware, and software, this person ensures deployment requirements are understood, documented, and built into each phase of execution. Our Product Lead owns cross-workstream orchestration, software/product scope, PRDs, Jira execution, and day-to-day product tradeoff decisions. This role owns the readiness layer - what must happen for the experience to work end-to-end in the field.

This is a hands-on role, and the candidate needs to be comfortable putting hardware on people, running testing sessions, identifying gaps before they become field issues, and building the protocols, runbooks, checklists, and operating standards needed for repeatable deployment. Practical, organized, technically fluent, and user-obsessed, they help turn product development into successful real-world execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Own the End-to-End User Experience

• Own the full user journey from headset setup through session completion, reporting, and longitudinal return
• Ensure the product experience works for both the end user and the session operator
• Identify friction across onboarding, headset placement, instructions, session flow, comfort, comprehension, troubleshooting, and follow-up
• Pressure-test the experience with real users and translate findings into clear product, technical, and operational requirements

2. Define Technical Requirements for Deployment Readiness

• Identify the technical and operational requirements needed for each product phase, pilot, study, or customer deployment to run successfully
• Work with the Senior Product Manager to ensure deployment requirements are reflected in product scope, software workflows, hardware readiness, and program planning
• Define what must be true across signal quality, device setup, operator workflow, data capture, reporting, user support, and troubleshooting
• Surface gaps early and ensure each deployment has a clear readiness checklist, ownership model, and operating process

Experience & Background Required

• 5–8 years of experience in product operations, technical program management, user testing, human factors, research operations, deployment management, or a related function
• Experience working with hardware-software integrated products and supporting user testing, field testing, product validation, or deployment workflows
• Comfortable working hands-on with users, including setting up equipment, walking users through protocols, and capturing structured feedback
• Strong technical fluency across hardware, software, signal quality, user experience, and deployment workflows
• Strong documentation skills, including testing protocols, runbooks, workflows, checklists, and operational standards
• Ability to work closely with product, engineering, hardware, research, and design teams
• Comfortable with field travel, on-site deployment work, and hands-on execution

Preferred

• Experience with biosensing, wearables, physiological signal products, or sensor-based systems, including EEG, PPG, HRV, eye tracking, IMU, or related biometric data streams
• Experience with VR/AR, head-worn devices, immersive training systems, or repeated-use hardware experiences
• Background in human factors, ergonomics, UX research, applied research operations, or product validation
• Experience supporting research studies, IRB-led studies, enterprise pilots, field deployments, or regulated-adjacent product environments

• Practical, calm, detail-oriented, and strong in follow-through
