MRI Technologist

MRI Technologist is responsible for providing quality diagnostic exams for interpretation. MRI Technologist is also responsible for maintaining a safe environment in the work area for patients, staff, and visitors. Must be knowledgeable in MRI safety.

Department: MRI

Hours: 2nd shift, Full-Time, 40 hours a week required

Required: AS Degree, ARRT (R), (MRI) within 1 year of hire, American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (MRI)

Pay: Based on experience, starting at $33.73 an hour

Responsibilities

• Accurate image identification including documentation in patient records (Charts) of proper consents, orders and screening forms.
• Completes level 2 MRI safety training annually.
• Conducts safety evaluations on each person entering Zone 3 and Zone 4 as appropriate.
• Determines portion of body to be imaged and properly positions the most suitable body position for the scan.
• Knowledgeable of MRI equipment use and able to make technique adjustments as necessary to provide diagnostic images.
• Maintains a safe work environment at ALL times.
• Performs intravenous injection of contrast media products under the guidance of the Radiologist.
• Processes images to PACS system.
• Provides proper documentation in patient charts for consents, orders and screening.
• Utilizes Hospital Information System (HIS) to obtain patient information, verify orders, complete charges and process studies.
• Utilizes proper safety techniques to scan patients and provide excellent quality imaging.
• When exams require contrast media, applies knowledge of Creatinine & GFR levels to aid in determining the use of contrast. Understands criteria, normal vs. elevated levels, protocols to follow for abnormal levels and consults w/ physician or nurse as appropriate.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree (Required)
• ARRT (MRI) - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (within 1 year of hire) - Sarah Bush Lincoln
• ARRT - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• ARRT - Radiography (R) - (within 1 year of hire) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• BLS or CPR certification (within 90 days of hire) - Sarah Bush Lincoln
