FOIA Paralegal

FOIA Paralegal CGS seeks a FOIA Paralegal to support the legal mission of a large federal agency by performing legal review and FOIA request processing, alongside other litigation support tasks. Responsibilities Conduct searches and analyze results to separate non-responsive from responsive documents and screen responsive documents for privilege or FOIA exemptions. Redact and code responsive documents. Perform legal research. Draft legal documents. Apply FOIA rules and regulations, including exemptions. Deliver high‑quality work under extreme pressure. Maintain familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures. Qualifications Paralegal certificate, JD, or enrollment in an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study. At least one year of litigation paralegal experience (trial experience helpful). Experience with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, or other eDiscovery and document review tools. Experience processing FOIA requests. Demonstrated knowledge of FOIA rules, regulations, and exemptions. Basic legal knowledge and proficiency with legal citation, memos, motions, LEXIS, and Westlaw. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong computer skills (word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, hardware). Ability to work independently and consistently under pressure. English language proficiency. Ability to obtain a government security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Two years of experience using Nuix Investigate for document review and tagging. Two years of FOIA request processing experience for federal agencies. Fluency in statutory and regulatory guidelines for FOIA responses.
