Lead Embedded Hardware Electrical Engineer

Eaton’s PCS Group (Protection, Controls and Solutions) Advanced Technology Team is looking for a Lead Embedded Hardware Electrical Engineer to join our fast-paced team of engineers in developing cutting-edge technology for our next generation products. This position will be located onsite in Moon Township, PA, and a hybrid work model is available (3 onsite/2 remote). If you thrive in environments where ideas move quickly from concept to prototype—and ultimately to real-world impact—this is your opportunity.Why This Role Stands Out:• Own critical technology at the heart of next-gen AC/DC protection systems• Lead from concept to prototype—not just incremental updates• Work on cutting-edge tech (solid-state breakers, embedded controls, advanced sensing)• Collaborate with top minds across Eaton Research Labs, universities, and national labs• See your designs come to life in real products solving circuit protection challenges What You’ll Do:As a technical leader, you’ll drive the embedded hardware architecture and development for advanced circuit protection platforms:Lead electrical design of embedded hardware for solid-state circuit breakersArchitect and design systems including: Embedded processing & controlAnalog signal conditioning & protectionPower supplies & driversMetering, communications, and user interfacesRun circuit simulations and validate designs across edge conditionsPartner with product and application teams to define system requirementsGuide PCB layout and design execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and certificationsDevelop and execute test strategies (component, PCBA, and system-level)Drive design reviews, quality, and technical rigorOwn project planning—roadmap, schedules, and execution trackingContribute to innovation initiatives and IP developmentWhat you’ll do:What You Bring• Strong background in embedded hardware design for power electronics or controls systems or related electronic systems• Experience with analog + digital design, including signal processing and power circuits, along with digital and embedded processor design• Hands-on expertise with circuit simulation, PCB design, and hardware validation• Ability to lead technically while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams• Passion for solving complex engineering challenges and pushing boundariesThe Impact You’ll MakeYour work will directly enable technologies that support:• Data Centers, Electrification and renewable energy integration• Safer, smarter power distribution systems• Next-generation protection in both AC and DC applicationsQualifications:Required (Basic) Qualifications:• Bachelor’s in engineering from an accredited institution• Minimum of 4 years of experience with embedded hardware for electronic devices Preferred Qualifications:• Master’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution• Experience developing circuit schematics and conducting electronic simulation• Experience working with oscilloscopes and power supplies to verify circuit performance• Experience writing/developing firmware for real time embedded systems• Experience and knowledge related to design for EMC and EMC testing• Experience designing embedded systems for circuit protection applicationsSkills:• Proficient with circuit design and schematic capture tools, specifically Altium• Experience with bus communications: USB, Modbus, CAN, Ethernet• Experience with AC power systems• Experience with embedded firmware in microcontrollers (e.g. ARM Cortex, PIC)• Experience writing and performing detailed test plans• Experience in using Digital Oscilloscopes and logic analyzers• Enjoys hands on work and has experience with lab equipment and safetySkills:Proficient with circuit design and schematic capture tools, specifically AltiumExperience with bus communications: USB, Modbus, CAN, EthernetExperience with AC power systemsExperience with embedded firmware in microcontrollers (e.g. ARM Cortex, PIC)Experience writing and performing detailed test plansExperience in using Digital Oscilloscopes and logic analyzersEnjoys hands on work and has experience with lab equipment and safetyAt Eaton, we strive to provide compensation and benefits that attract, engage, and retain the best talent.
