Opportunity:

RN - MedSurg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with available shift times of 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 3:00 PM–3:00 AM, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, or 3:00 AM–3:00 PM
• Schedule made in 4–6 week increments with schedule received 2 weeks prior
• Weekend rotation every third weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• May work up to 3 holidays per contract depending on time of year
• Up to 7 days of requested time off can be approved
• Patient ratios: 1:4–5 on days/evenings and 1:5 on nights
• Treat patients with orthopedic diagnoses including total hip and knee replacements and spinal surgeries, as well as general MedSurg conditions such as CHF, COPD, and respiratory, kidney, liver, and GI issues
• Required skills include PIV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, chest tubes, stable trach management, and knowledge of patients on BiPAP/CPAP
• Drip management required for insulin and heparin
• May float within scope of practice to MS1, Cardiac MS2, and ED Holding
• EMR: EPIC experience preferred
• IV Pump: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: BLS; NIHSS preferred
• Scrub color: Any solid color, professional

Facility:

This medical center is a 101-bed facility designated as a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. The Med/Surg unit operates with 24 beds and is supported by CNAs, a charge nurse with a modified patient assignment, phlebotomy services, a 24/7 hospitalist team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and OT/PT/ST services available on weekdays. The facility fosters a collaborative unit culture currently in a rebuilding phase.
