American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring NC or compact RN licensure and cardiac telemetry experience, working 12-hour night shifts.

Community-based teaching hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations

18-bed cardiac telemetry/PCU unit with average daily census of 18

Cares for general medical patients requiring continuous cardiac, respiratory, hemodynamic, and neurologic monitoring, including NSTEMI, post-STEMI, cardiac interventional and EP procedures, thoracic surgery, heart failure, and post-stroke patients

Manages post-op day 2 open heart patients and respiratory failure cases requiring high-flow oxygen or NIPPV support

RN to patient ratio of 1:3 or 1:4 depending on level of intervention

EPIC EMR used

Philips Intellivue monitors in all rooms with arterial line interface for invasive blood pressure monitoring

Baxter IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing system used

12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730, scheduled on a 6-week cycle

Every other weekend rotation required

No on-call responsibilities

Floating required within the critical care division or Intermediate Care

Active RN license (NC or Compact) required

BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Tele or PCU experience required

Minimum 12 months core work experience in unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year

Skilled in cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, rhythm interpretation, arterial line management, drip titration, non-invasive ventilator care, vascular line care, chest tube/drain management, and post-procedure site care

Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation

Supported by 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist coverage, Rapid Response Team, CNAs, and Charge Nurse acting as resource

Orientation includes 36 hours in week one (NTO and online CBL via Healthstream) plus a 12-hour unit-specific shift with an RN preceptor

Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays

RTO subject to Resource Team approval
