SUMMARY:  The Chain Machine Operator operates and adjusts jewelry chain production machines, supporting daily operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate chain-making machines and hand tools to manufacture jewelry chains according to specifications.
  • Feed materials into machines and monitor operation for quality and consistency.
  • Set up and operate chain machinery according to production specification.
  • Monitor equipment during operation to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on machinery to prevent breakdowns and ensure consistent operation.
  • Inspect finished chains for defects and measure them against quality standards.
  • Clean and maintain machines, adhering to safety and protocols.
  • Regular attendance and compliance with the Company's handbook policies and procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of machine maintenance or tooling.
  • Ability to work with small components.
  • Ability to work efficiently under time constraints while maintaining quality.
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient with hand tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working with small tools and materials.
  • Frequent use of hands and fine motor skills.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
  • Visual acuity to inspect fine details of machinery, equipment, and of chain quality.
  • Ability to use a microscope to inspect manufactured components for defects, measurements, and quality standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is working in a manufacturing environment in our "secure area" of the building.  There is exposure to small metal parts, machinery, noise, and occasional particulates.  Use of safety glasses and equipment is required.

Individuals working in the "secure area" must follow the Company's Secure Area Dress Code and Security policies and procedures.  All clothing must be free from metal, and no metal may be worn into the secure area of the building.  Any metal inside or outside the body due to a medical condition must be visually inspected, or reasonable accommodations may be made.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

Four, 10 hour days on a three week rotation schedule. Overtime hours required as needed based on production demands.

TRAVEL:  None.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Certification or training in industrial machinery repair or maintenance.
  • Three or more years' experience in maintaining precision equipment or similar role.
  • Two or more years of welding or laser welding experience.
  • One to two years of experience in machinery maintenance, manufacturing, or a related field.
