Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ED RN for a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a GA or compact license and prior ED nursing experience.

Details

Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with 637 licensed beds, Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations

Emergency Department with 61 beds plus surge capacity

Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, stroke, diabetes, abdominal pain, MVCs, HTN, stabbings, and mental health cases

RN to patient ratio of 1:4 depending on assigned zone

12-hour day or night shifts from 7A-7P or 7P-7A, totaling 40 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle

Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts out of 12 on a 6-week schedule

No on-call requirements

Floating required within the ED and to Baldwin if needed

Central telemetry monitoring managed within the ER

Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors

Unit-specific equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova glucose stat strips, portable vital sign monitors, PCA pumps, bladder scanners, Glucommander, suction machines, and rapid infusers

Requirements

Active GA or compact RN license required

BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required

BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) required, including passing an EKG competency exam during compliance

National certification in emergency nursing preferred but not required

Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required

Minimum 12 months of core ED experience within the last year required

Experience with Level 1 Trauma emergency nursing required

Experience with high-acuity drips including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed

EPIC EMR experience preferred

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Additional Information

Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of trauma and acute conditions in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy/nurse draw, PICC team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage

Orientation includes 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules and 2 days of departmental orientation

Scrub color required: Navy for RNs

Holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of major holidays, including Thanksgiving or the day after, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve or New Year's Day
