Quality Manager

Position SummaryThe Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining TuscoMFG's quality management system (QMS) in full compliance with ISO 9001 with Design. This role leads all internal audit functions, controls quality documentation, and drives continuous improvement across fabrication, welding, coating, assembly, and logistics operations. The Quality Manager serves as Management Representative for ISO certification and is the primary liaison for customer quality requirements and third-party registrar audits.Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Management System (QMS)Own and maintain TuscoMFG's ISO 9001 with Design QMS, ensuring all clauses are effectively implemented and sustained.Serve as Management Representative — primary contact for registrar, customers, and internal stakeholders on all quality system matters.Lead management review meetings; prepare quality performance metrics and trend analysis for leadership.Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and ensure timely, effective closure.Internal AuditingPlan, schedule, and execute the internal audit program covering all ISO 9001 clauses and TuscoMFG processes.Train and qualify internal auditors; build and maintain an internal audit team.Issue audit findings (nonconformances and opportunities for improvement) and drive closure within defined timelines.Coordinate and support third-party surveillance and recertification audits.Documentation & Records ControlDevelop, revise, and control all quality documentation including quality manual, procedures, work instructions, and forms.Maintain document control system ensuring current revisions are accessible and obsolete documents are withdrawn.Ensure records retention practices comply with ISO 9001 requirements and customer-specific requirements (CSRs).Production & Inspection QualityOversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities; define inspection criteria and sampling plans.Manage nonconforming product (NCR) process — disposition, segregation, and root cause investigation.Monitor and report quality KPIs: first pass yield, scrap rate, customer PPM, on-time delivery impact, audit findings.Lead root cause analysis (5-Why) on internal and customer-reported quality escapes.Customer QualityRespond to customer complaints, 8D reports, and corrective action requests within required timelines.Review and flow down customer-specific quality requirements to internal teams and supply chain.Required Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing), Quality Management, or a related field.Minimum 5–8 years of progressive quality experience in a metal fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environment.Minimum 2–3 years in a quality supervisory or management role.Demonstrated hands-on experience managing an ISO 9001 QMS — including Design scope (Clause 8.3).Proven experience planning and executing internal auditsTechnical Skills & KnowledgeDeep knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standard, including Design & Development controls (Clause 8.3).Proficiency in root cause analysis tools: 5-Why, Ishikawa/Fishbone, Is/Is-Not analysis.Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control), MSA, and Gauge R&R studies.Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation — critical for metal fabrication environment.Familiarity with inspection equipment: CMMs, calipers, micrometers.Experience writing quality procedures, work instructions, control plans, and inspection records.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with QMS software a plus.Leadership & Soft SkillsProven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive accountability without direct authority.Excellent written and verbal communication — able to present data and findings to shop floor and executive leadership.Strong organizational skills with the discipline to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.Comfortable delivering difficult feedback and holding standards under pressure.Collaborative and proactive — partners with operations, engineering, sales, and logistics to solve problems at the root.Physical & Environmental RequirementsAbility to work in a manufacturing environment including exposure to noise, metal dust, and heavy equipment.May require standing, walking production floor for extended periods.Occasional travel to supplier facilities or customer sites for audits and reviews. #J-18808-Ljbffr
