Material Handler Specialist

Position Summary The Shipping/Receiving Clerk (S/R) carries out customer service activities in a timely, courteous, and effective manner. A major responsibility is the timely and accurate handling of customer orders in compliance with all DSV Work Instructions and customer requirements. The S/R is responsible for the accurate input of information concerning orders, shipments, receipts, physical inventories, etc., ensuring that shipping and receiving documents and functions are completed accurately and on time. Schedule Sunday – Tuesday, alternating Wednesday every other week. Hours: 2:30 am – 3:00 pm. Responsibilities Process all customer orders promptly and accurately. Generate and manage all related paperwork and necessary information for customer orders, checking for special requests and shipping paperwork. Coordinate special, last‑minute shipping requests with the operation department, expediting orders as necessary. Prioritize customer orders according to scheduled pick‑up time or pier cutoff. Provide shipping and tracking information to customers. Maintain a good working relationship with customers by responding quickly and efficiently to inquiries about receipts, shipments, inventory counts, etc. Report customer feedback and any signs of dissatisfaction to management. Oversee all paperwork associated with orders and maintain corresponding files. Maintain an up‑to‑date DSV Work Instructions Manual and perform phone calls and office machine operations as required. Operate the computer terminal efficiently, entering and verifying data regarding customer orders, shipments, receipts, adjustments, etc., in an accurate and timely manner. Ensure the accuracy of all receiving and shipping documents. Collect and maintain all data and records related to shipping and receiving activities, assisting in resolving discrepancies. Collect inbound freight documentation and route to the proper record‑keeping unit. Comply with all DSV Work Instructions. Perform other assigned clerical duties and backup support as required. Work overtime as dictated by business needs. Minimum Required Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Preferred Qualifications Previous customer service experience, including phone calls and operating office equipment. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Computer Skills Basic computer skills. Proficiency in computerized applications (Microsoft Suites). Language Skills English (reading, writing, verbal). Mathematical Skills Basic level. Other Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner. Good verbal and written communication skills. Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical demands include: Bending (occasionally). Walking and standing (frequently). Sitting (constantly). Lifting/Carrying and pushing/pulling 11‑20 pounds, including reaching above shoulder, squatting, or kneeling. Work environment: low‑to‑moderate noise, rarely exposed to fumes or chemicals. Compensation Expected base pay range: $23.00 per hour.
