Job Description

This Lab Technician role supports laboratory operations by preparing, testing, and analyzing petroleum and fertilizer samples while maintaining high quality and safety standards. The position suits candidates with some hands-on laboratory experience through work, internships, or coursework who are eager to learn a variety of testing methods and develop their skills in a fast-paced laboratory environment. The role emphasizes accuracy, productivity, and continuous learning, with a strong focus on independent work and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Prepare petroleum and fertilizer samples for testing in accordance with established laboratory procedures.
• Perform laboratory tests and analyses on samples using appropriate methods, instruments, and techniques.
• Analyze test results and record data accurately to support quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Follow laboratory protocols to ensure all testing meets quality and safety standards.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including instruments used for analytical chemistry and HPLC, as trained and assigned.
• Perform sample preparation, analytical testing, and documentation in support of laboratory operations.
• Enter test results and related information into laboratory data systems with a high level of accuracy.
• Work independently for the majority of daily tasks while seeking guidance when needed.
• Participate actively in training, quickly learn new testing methods, and apply feedback to improve performance.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by taking initiative and identifying opportunities to enhance laboratory processes.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on laboratory experience gained through work, internships, or coursework.
• Foundational knowledge in chemistry, biology, or related scientific disciplines.
• Experience or exposure to quality control and quality assurance practices in a laboratory setting.
• Ability to perform analytical tests and interpret results under guidance.
• Basic experience with HPLC or a strong willingness to learn HPLC techniques.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in testing and data entry.
• Comfort working in a role that is approximately 80% independent work.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new methods and procedures.
• Proficiency in data entry and accurate documentation of laboratory results.
• Eagerness to take initiative and grow within a laboratory environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Open to entry-level candidates and recent graduates with relevant laboratory coursework or internship experience.
• Expierence in analytical chemistry, microbiology, or related fields is beneficial.
• Experience working laboratory or industrial testing environments is an advantage.
• Motivation to build a long-term career in laboratory operations and quality-focused testing.

Work Environment

The Lab Technician works in a fast-paced laboratory environment focused on testing petroleum and fertilizer samples. The role involves frequent use of laboratory instruments and analytical equipment, including tools used for chemistry, biology, microbiology, and HPLC testing. The position emphasizes independent work for most daily tasks, with structured training and support to help you learn new methods and adapt quickly. You will perform detailed testing, data entry, and documentation in a setting that prioritizes accuracy, productivity, and safety. The work environment supports continuous learning and professional growth, with opportunities to take on additional responsibilities as skills develop.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
