Construction Superintendent

Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of subcontracting experience Language Requirement: Bilingual — English and Spanish Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced, dependable, hands-on Masonry & Brick Subcontractor to oversee and perform masonry work on active construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of professional masonry experience, strong knowledge of brick, block, stone, and related masonry systems, and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. The individual must be capable of managing day-to-day field operations, coordinating with the General Contractor and other trades, and lead estimators in the office maintaining quality standards, and ensuring projects remain on schedule. Office is located in Tyler, TX We prefer someone living in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. as job site are located in the larger East Texas area. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate daily masonry and brick installation activities. Read and interpret construction plans, elevations, details, and specifications. Lay brick, CMU, manufactured stone veneer, cast stone, and other masonry products as required. Coordinate material deliveries and ensure materials are properly staged on site. Direct and communicate with masonry laborers and crew members. Coordinate daily work with the General Contractor, superintendent, project manager, and other subcontractors. Review upcoming work and plan manpower, materials, equipment, and production needs. Maintain proper job-site organization and cleanliness. Identify potential issues in the field and communicate them before they become costly problems. Ensure proper installation of flashing, weeps, mortar joints, reinforcing, anchors, ties, and other required masonry components. Follow all applicable OSHA, job-site, and safety requirements. Properly use and maintain scaffolding, mixers, saws, hand tools, and other masonry equipment. Coordinate with other trades to avoid conflicts and delays. Communicate daily progress, manpower, material needs, and job-site issues to management. Required Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of professional masonry experience. Strong experience with brick and CMU installation. Bilingual in English and Spanish — required. Experience with manufactured stone veneer and/or cast stone is preferred. Ability to read and understand construction drawings and architectural details. Strong understanding of masonry construction methods and best practices. Ability to establish accurate layout, elevations, corners, and control lines. Experience supervising or directing a masonry crew. Reliable transportation to and from job sites. Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding construction work. Ability to safely work from scaffolding and elevated work areas. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Must be dependable, punctual, and committed to meeting project deadlines. Daily Performance Expectations: Arrive on time and ready to work. Review the day's work and priorities with the project team. Ensure the crew has the necessary materials, tools, and equipment. Maintain consistent production throughout the workday. Maintain quality workmanship and accurate installation. Keep the work area safe, organized, and clean. Communicate problems or changes immediately. Coordinate effectively with other trades. Track progress and communicate completion status. Leave completed work clean, professional, and ready for inspection.
