Instructional Facilitator/Instructional Coach

Additional duties perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

General Statement of Job

Primary responsibility is as trainer, coach, and support for teachers and PLCs. Works under general supervision. Reports to the school principal and is supported by the Director of Curriculum Support for Elementary or Secondary.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

Bachelor's degree required and advanced degree preferred. Five years of successful experience in the classroom setting and experience in teacher development, coaching, working as a member of a team, and curriculum and instruction. Knowledge of NC Standard Course of Study, NC Professional Teaching Standards, assessment processes and timelines, and research-based strategies such as RtI. Experience coaching in culturally diverse schools.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Work with teachers to ensure alignment of instructional strategies & assessments to the North Carolina Common Core and Essential Standards.

Provide coaching and support to empower teachers as leaders.

Co-teach and model lessons in classrooms.

Provide and model differentiation strategies.

Work with individual/small groups of students to close gaps.

Support Beginning Teachers and their Mentors through monthly professional development and ongoing coaching and classroom support.

Continually research and share effective instructional strategies according to teacher and student needs.

Coach/co-facilitate collaborative teams/PLCs as they develop and use formative assessments and data to drive instructional planning.

Assist with data analysis to drive instructional planning.

Coach and support the work of SIT and goal teams.

Coach and support teachers as they help students to take ownership of their own learning.

Recognize key elements of Continuous Classroom Improvement to help teachers make connections between their current practice and the innovative and creative ways PDSA can impact learning in a classroom.

Continuously learn as a part of the COMPASS collaborative team/PLC.

Facilitate professional development for the district and on early release days or for other school initiatives as needed.

Equipment Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Works in standard office and school building environments.

Qualifications Profile

Certification/License: North Carolina Certification/Licensed as a Teacher in assigned level and subject area/subject.

Education Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Education in designated subject area or related discipline applicable to assignment.

Experience Five years of successful experience in the classroom setting and experience in teacher development, coaching, working as a member of a team, and curriculum and instruction.

Salary: NC DPI State Salary Schedule
