What To Expect
This role focuses on noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) testing and validation for power electronics, motors, and related systems within Tesla's vehicle powertrain and thermal architectures. The NVH Test Engineer will collaborate with design, firmware, and controls teams to ensure optimal acoustic performance, provide actionable feedback, and drive continuous improvement in component design and system integration. This position plays a critical role in enhancing vehicle quality by balancing noise reduction with cost, mass, and complexity considerations.
What You'll Do
Perform noise and vibration testing on components for motors and power electronics, including vehicle powertrain and thermal systemsConduct stationary and driving vehicle tests to validate performance, design changes, and firmware tuningProvide feedback to design teams on countermeasures and improvements for component design and firmware/controls related to NVHDesign and maintain a noise attributes standard for power electronics across all vehicle design groups, assessing existing and future vehicles against this standardValidate and document detailed information on firmware logic for power electronics-related noise and its sensitivitiesDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing noise while optimizing cost, mass, and complexity in thermal systems and vehicle architectureContextualize and interpret test data and CAE simulation risks in relation to real-world psychoacoustic performance
What You'll Bring
Expertise in motor and power electronics design for acoustic noiseExperience in physical testing for noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) in complex systems such as rail, aerospace, or energyHands-on experience with large data acquisition using Siemens TestLab or similar toolsExperience with MATLAB or Python for automation or computationExperience with CAN or test automationAbility to interpret simulation and test data for actionable insightsDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, Physics, or equivalent experience

Expected Compensation
$91,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
