PRN Staff Pharmacist

PRN Staff Pharmacist Position: PRN Staff Pharmacist. Work as needed, varying weekdays from Monday to Saturday; hours and specific days will vary weekly. May also serve as an interim PIC for new pharmacies under application. Qualifications BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D Degree from an accredited institution. Active, valid pharmacist license in NC with no restrictions. Certified Immunizer. At least one year of retail pharmacy experience, including prescription filling, verification, records, legal compliance, operations, software, and insurance. Experience performing prescription dispensing activities and strong knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting. Proficient in Windows-based computer programs and Microsoft Office. Ability to handle multiple tasks professionally, organized, and friendly. Basic quantitative abilities. Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to translate clinical information for both clinical and non‑clinical audiences. Detail‑oriented, follows established procedures, and initiates quality corrections. Effective time management, stays focused, meets performance objectives and deadlines. Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, proactive customer service, and responsibility for customer satisfaction. Plan, organize, and prioritize work activities to meet business needs. Immediate Supervisor Title Pharmacist‑In‑Charge (PIC) Physical Demands Exposure to a normal office environment. Lift, carry, and/or push/pull various items (bags, boxes, carts, etc.) using proper technique. Lift up to 35 pounds from floor to chest level and lift and carry up to 35 pounds at waist height for a reasonable distance. Stand for the majority of the workday (8–10 hours) or for long periods depending on pharmacy operation needs. Operate all equipment necessary to do the job. Job Description This is an as‑needed position for a PRN Staff Pharmacist willing to work varying weekdays from Monday to Saturday. The hours and specific days will vary week to week. The position may also entail serving as an interim PIC for pharmacies to be opened in the near future for application purposes. As an integral member of the pharmacy team, the PRN Staff Pharmacist practices pharmacy consistent with company expectations and applicable state and federal laws and regulations in a fast‑paced environment focused on dispensing accuracy and patient care. The Staff Pharmacist performs duties in both the adjudication and production work environments while providing direct supervision of Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Technicians. In adjudication, the Staff Pharmacist interprets prescription orders, clarifies and verifies information, and provides counseling. In production, the Staff Pharmacist reviews the fulfillment of prescription orders, works with robotics and automation, completes prescription transfers, and assists with drug procurement through various wholesalers. Responsibilities Customer Experience Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues timely and answer questions to ensure a positive experience. Model and share best customer‑service practices with all pharmacy team members. Develop strong relationships with valuable customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services. Support efforts on enhancing customer experience by increasing focus on healthcare services such as patient consultation, medication management, drug therapy reviews, and retail, clinical, or wellness services (immunizations, flu shots, diabetes awareness). Participate in and assist necessary events as requested by Corporate Staff, Director of Pharmacy Program, Pharmacy Manager, or PIC. Operations Counsel patients and answer questions about medication use, side effects, interactions, contraindications, privacy, generics, cheaper alternatives, over‑the‑counter products, and referrals to providers. Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards. Assist PIC with establishing efficient workflows, assigning roles, coordinating activities, and soliciting employee suggestions. Responsible for opening and closing of the pharmacy and shift‑change duties. Ensure compliance with state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions. Maintain current knowledge of information technology associated with pharmacy systems and provide support to customers and staff. Propose and implement system enhancements as needed. Accurately process insurance claims to resolve customer issues and prevent payment rejections. Follow up with insurance companies and medical providers for clarifications and alternative medication suggestions. Perform 340B, retail, clinical, and wellness services such as immunizations, flu shots, diabetes awareness, and other preventive healthcare services. Assist and support PIC and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing performance data, including financials, customer service, and procedure implementation for asset protection and inventory management. Develop and maintain good relationships with in‑house staff, other Goshen Medical Center offices, and the local medical community. Participate in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business and enhance growth opportunities. Meet or exceed daily workflow expectations. Provide on‑call counseling services for mail‑order patients based on business needs during business hours. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required. Package prescriptions for shipping and create shipping labels via FedEx for patient orders. Prepare for the next day's duties and maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area. People & Performance Management Assist PIC and Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training. Co‑reinforce the direction of PIC and Pharmacy Manager in staff performance by coaching, providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service, and fostering employee development. Promote teamwork and motivate team members by setting expectations, monitoring progress, and recognizing achievements. Training & Personal Development Obtain necessary on‑the‑job training and education to understand HRSA and 340B Pharmacy Program. Maintain current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading journals, company publications, and communications. Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training as required by Goshen Medical Center. Seek professional development by monitoring performance, soliciting constructive feedback, and leveraging PIC, Pharmacy Manager, and Director of Pharmacy Program as mentors and coaches. Communications Support PIC, Pharmacy Manager, and Director of Pharmacy Program by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or strategy information to pharmacy staff. #J-18808-Ljbffr
