We solve challenges by leveraging the collective expertise and ingenuity of the best and brightest minds across development, design, and construction.The Role We Want You ForThe Electrical Engineer will support the design and implementation of electrical systems for mission-critical facilities, including data centers, advanced manufacturing plants, and other high-reliability environments. Working alongside a Senior Electrical Engineer on each project, this mid-level role is responsible for producing detailed electrical designs, performing analyses, and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver infrastructure that meets demanding uptime and efficiency requirements in a fast-paced, design-build environment.The Specifics of the RoleDevelop electrical designs for mission-critical projects under the direction of a Senior Electrical Engineer, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and client requirements.Produce medium- and low-voltage power distribution, grounding, UPS, standby generator, and redundancy designs (N+1, 2N, distributed/block-redundant) for data centers and other high-availability environments.Perform short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies using industry-standard software.Prepare construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, structural, and EPMS teams to integrate electrical systems into overall project design.Support construction administration activities, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and field observations.Contribute to client meetings and presentations, supporting the senior engineer in communicating technical solutions.Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in the mission-critical industry.RequirementsBS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET institution required.3-7 years of experience in Electrical Engineering; mission-critical, data center, or high-tech manufacturing project experience preferred.EIT required; PE License preferred or actively pursuing.Working knowledge of medium- and low-voltage power system design, redundancy planning, and energy efficiency strategies for high-reliability facilities.Proficiency in software tools such as SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower for power system analysis; exposure to AmpCalc or CYMCAP for cable ampacity analysis is a plus.Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and other relevant codes and standards.Experience working in a design-build or integrated project delivery (IPD) environment is a plus.Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.Some Things You Should KnowNo other builder can offer the collaborative design-build approach that Clayco does.We work on creative, complex, award-winning, high-profile jobs.The pace is fast!Why Clayco and LJC?2025 Best Places to Work – St. Louis Business Journal, Los Angeles Business Journal, and Phoenix Business Journal.2025 ENR Top 400 – Top Data Center Contractor (Top 3).2025 ENR Top 100 Design-Build Firms – Design-Build Contractor (Top 5).2025 ENR Top 100 Green Contractors – Green Contractor (Top 3).BenefitsDiscretionary Annual Bonus: Subject to company and individual performance.Comprehensive Benefits Package Including: Medical, dental and vision plans, 401k, generous PTO and paid company holidays, employee assistance program, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, disability coverage, learning & development programs and more!CompensationThe salary range for this position considers a wide range of factors in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: Education, qualifications, skills, training, experience, certifications, internal equity, and location.
