Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

Primary Responsibilities Serve as the primary athletic communications contact for approximately 12 varsity sports, including game-day statistical coverage, media relations, website updates, feature writing, game recaps, award nominations, and historical record maintenance. Coordinate all aspects of athletic communications coverage for assigned sports, including home event operations, visiting media support, and NCAA/NESCAC reporting requirements. Act as the primary manager of rosters and schedules for GoUBears.com, in close collaboration with the Assistant Athletic Director for Special Projects and Planning (roster maintenance) and the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Management (game, match, and meet schedules). Serve as the primary coordinator of the department’s social media presence through the @GoUBears accounts, developing and executing content strategies that engage current student‑athletes, prospective students, alumni, and fans. Collaborate closely with the department’s contracted photographer and other content creators to produce social media graphics, videos, feature content, and promotional campaigns across multiple platforms. Supervise and mentor a team of 10–12 student employees, including a dedicated social media team of 4–6 students responsible for content creation, photography, videography, graphic design, and event coverage. Produce and manage creative content for major departmental initiatives, including the annual Go U Bears Athletic Fund Challenge, working directly with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations to create videos, photography, and digital storytelling content for fundraising campaigns and donor engagement efforts. Coordinate with the Northeast Sports Network (NSN) and other broadcast partners to support live event streaming, promotional content, and broadcast‑related communications. Maintain accurate statistical records and ensure compliance with NCAA, NESCAC, and institutional reporting requirements. Requirements Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign. Experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. Experience with NCAA statistical software platforms, including PrestoStats and NCAA LiveStats (or comparable systems), and familiarity with statistical reporting requirements. Strong writing, editing, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced collegiate athletics environment. Experience with website content management systems, social media strategy, photography, graphic design, and/or video production preferred. 2-4 years prior experience working in an intercollegiate sports information office and/or Athletic department setting is required. 4-6 years of experience in collegiate athletic communications preferred, or comparable background in Communications/Sports Management. #J-18808-Ljbffr
