Overnight Emergency Veterinarian at AnimERge

Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Emergency Veterinarian to join our team at AnimERge in Raritan, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will provide high‑quality veterinary care, communicate effectively with clients, and work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff, including the Hospital Manager and Regional Manager. Fully equipped facility: digital X‑rays, ultrasound, in‑house lab (CBC, chemistry, electrolytes, coagulation panels, SNAP test reader), endoscopy, oxygen cages, separate ER surgical suite. Ability for emergency doctors to perform surgeries independently. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups. Communicate with and educate clients. Perform diagnostic procedures and surgeries. Maintain accurate medical records. Prescribe medications and adhere to controlled‑substance protocols. Promote teamwork and enhance staff efficiency. Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities. Evaluate and monitor protocols for daily hospital operation. Attend daily rounds to ensure high standards. Participate in practice‑management updates and training. Perform additional duties assigned by Management. Qualifications (Required) Veterinarian degree (DVM) from an accredited institution. Current State Veterinary License. DEA registration, obtained and maintained. Minimum 2 years experience in a veterinary emergency practice. Strong diagnostic, clinical, surgical, and dental skills. Team‑oriented work style. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality care. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients. Capacity to handle physically demanding tasks and lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Advanced clinical knowledge for cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, and neurological examinations. Problem‑solving skills for hospital management challenges. Effective communication of diagnostics and treatment options. Professionalism and receptiveness to constructive feedback. Business acumen related to veterinary hospital operations.
