RN, Registered Nurse, Per Diem, Night Shift - ICU, Intensive Care Unit

LewisGale Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled RN for our Surgical Progressive Care Unit. In this role, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to adult surgical patients who require close monitoring and a higher level of support than a general med-surg unit. You will care for patients recovering from complex surgical procedures, including vascular, cardiac, bariatric, and other specialty surgeries, carefully assessing their status, recognizing early signs of deterioration, and intervening promptly in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Working within our culture of compassionate care, teamwork, and professional development, you will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications and treatments, manage pain and wound care, monitor hemodynamic and cardiac status, and interpret telemetry and other clinical data. You will coordinate patient care with surgeons, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation specialists, case managers, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure safe transitions through the perioperative continuum and discharge planning.

The RN on the Surgical Progressive Care Unit will advocate for patients and families, provide education on procedures, post-operative expectations, medications, and lifestyle modifications, and support them through recovery with empathy and clear communication. You will utilize critical thinking and clinical judgment to prioritize care in a fast-paced environment, respond to changes in patient condition, and follow hospital policies, evidence-based protocols, and regulatory standards to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.
