Pret A Manger is looking for a passionate and skilled Barista to join our team. You'll be the heart of our coffee experience, crafting consistently excellent drinks, creating genuine moments of connection with guests, and bringing the energy and warmth that defines Pret Buzz. This is more than a barista role: you'll be a coach and standard-setter for your team, helping train and develop fellow team members on Pret's Barista Prepared Drinks program. Key responsibilities include:

• Coaching and training team members on Barista Prepared Drinks and standards
• Delivering drinks within the 60-second service standard
• Liaising with management to ensure all Barista Prepared Drinks training is planned and carried out
• Carrying out coffee team briefs and attending relevant meetings and courses
• Ensuring all hot drinks training material is available and up to date
• Following Pret's dress code and being immaculately presented, wearing the correct uniform at all times
• Positively engaging with customers and the team about Pret's Coffee Story and Coffee Menu
• Serving Barista Prepared Drinks to the 60 seconds standards
• 'Wowing' customers with latte art
• Making all Barista Prepared Drinks to Pret standards
• Role modeling coffee knowledge and maintaining an understanding about Pret's Barista Prepared Drinks and standards
• Maintaining the Barista Prepared Drinks equipment, Barista box, and daily & weekly checks to Pret standards
• Viewing the Barista Prepared Drinks counter through a customer's eyes and cleaning as you go
• Carrying out log checks, thermometer calibration, and dribble tests in line with Pret standards
• Managing the waste levels of Barista Prepared Drinks ingredients
• Acting on any issues relating to stock variances and waste for Barista Prepared Drinks as required by your Manager
• Having a weekly sales target and sharing this with the team
• Knowing your shop Barista Prepared Drinks sales versus total sales and the mix
• Using promotional waste to sample and recognize regular customers with appropriate volume of drinks via Joy of Pret

Required experience includes:

• Barista: 1 year (Required)
• Proficiency in espresso based drinks
• Strong guest-service orientation
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Reliability and punctuality
• NYC Food Handlers Card (Preferred)
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 50 pounds; bend, reach overhead, squat, kneel, and go up and down stairs as needed; safely maneuver through tight or compact spaces; operate restaurant equipment and handle tools such as tongs, pots, and pans with dexterity; work in environments ranging from hot to cold, including near open flames and occasional outdoor conditions; maintain close, distance, and peripheral vision; communicate continuously with team members; and work in a constant state of alertness while maintaining safe operations
