Job description:

A good technician can find a job almost anywhere. Finding the right shop is harder.

A shop where there's enough work to stay productive. Where you're trusted to do your job. Where good work is noticed. Where the equipment and environment help you succeed instead of slowing you down.

And where you can build a good career without giving up your life outside of work.

That's what we're working to provide at Blackmon's Garage.

We've been serving San Antonio since 1946. This year marks 80 years in business and three generations of a family-owned independent repair shop.

We're proud of that history—but we're even more interested in what comes next.

Blackmon's is growing and evolving, and we're looking for an experienced A-Level Automotive Technician who wants a long-term home and an opportunity to grow with us.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AT BLACKMON'S $75,000–$90,000+ EARNING POTENTIAL

Experience and ability have value, and we believe compensation should reflect that.

Our compensation package includes competitive pay, along with performance-based raises, annual bonus opportunities, longevity bonuses, employee discounts, and incentives for continued ASE certification.

If you're an experienced, productive technician, we want you to have the opportunity to earn accordingly.

MONDAY–FRIDAY. NO WEEKENDS.

Our shop is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM.

No Saturdays. No Sundays.

We offer paid holidays, paid time off, and reasonable scheduling flexibility when life happens.

We work hard while we're here. We also believe you should have time to enjoy the life you're working for.

A STEADY WORKLOAD

Blackmon's has spent 80 years building relationships with customers throughout San Antonio.

That history gives us something that's difficult to manufacture overnight: a large, established customer base and a consistent flow of work.

Our customers care about their vehicles and are willing to maintain and repair them properly.

Our goal is simple: give good technicians the work and environment they need to stay productive.

ROOM AND EQUIPMENT TO DO YOUR JOB

Every technician gets a flat stall and a lift stall, giving you room to work efficiently without constantly moving vehicles around.

We continually reinvest in the shop, equipment, tools, technology, and facility.

Uniforms are provided.

You bring the knowledge and ability. We want to make sure the shop gives you what you need to use them.

WE INVEST IN GOOD TECHNICIANS

The automotive industry doesn't stop changing, and neither should we.

We provide opportunities for both onsite and offsite training and encourage continued education.

We reimburse ASE certification costs and provide additional compensation for continued certifications.

Whether you're already a Master Technician or you're continuing to build your certifications and diagnostic abilities, we want to help you become even better at what you do.

YOU'LL HAVE A VOICE HERE

We're a family-owned independent shop—not a giant corporation.

That means the people doing the work matter.

If you see a better way to do something, we want to hear it. If there's a problem, we'd rather address it than let it become part of the culture.

We believe in clear expectations, fair distribution of work, open communication, and treating experienced technicians like professionals.

You'll know what's expected of you, and you'll know where you stand.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

This is an experienced technician position.

Ideally, you have 5+ years of professional automotive repair experience and are comfortable handling work beyond basic maintenance and parts replacement.

We're especially interested in technicians who are strong in:

• Electrical and electronic diagnosis
• Vehicle communication/network systems
• Drivability diagnosis
• Complex mechanical repair
• Major engine repair
• Timing chains and cylinder head work
• Domestic vehicles

ASE certifications are valued, but we also know a patch doesn't tell the whole story.

We're looking for skill, experience, diagnostic ability, pride in your work, dependability, and a willingness to keep learning.

If you're the technician who enjoys figuring out the problem that wasn't obvious the first time around, you'll probably fit in well here.

WE FIX CARS OTHER SHOPS SOMETIMES DON'T WANT TO FIX

For generations, Blackmon's has built a reputation for taking on challenging repairs.

We do the everyday work, but we're also comfortable with the difficult stuff—electrical problems, drivability issues, major mechanical repairs, timing chains, cylinder heads, and even classic vehicles.

There's still room here to actually be a technician, not simply replace whatever part a computer tells you to replace.

We value people who know how to think, diagnose, repair, and take pride in getting it right.

WHAT WE OFFER

• $75,000–$90,000+ earning potential
• Monday–Friday schedule
• No weekends
• Paid holidays
• Paid time off
• Annual bonus opportunities
• Longevity bonus
• Performance-based raises
• ASE reimbursement and certification incentives
• Supplemental insurance options
• Paid/provided training and professional development
• Employee discounts
• Uniforms provided
• Two-stall setup for each technician
• Consistent workload
• Established customer base
• Family-owned independent shop
• Opportunity for long-term growth

80 YEARS IN BUSINESS — AND WE'RE STILL MOVING FORWARD

Blackmon's Garage opened in San Antonio in 1946.

Three generations and 80 years later, we're still repairing vehicles for this community.

We're proud of the reputation and customer relationships that were built before us, but we're not interested in simply maintaining the status quo.

We're modernizing our systems, investing in our operation, growing our customer base, and building the team that will carry Blackmon's into its next chapter.

We're looking for people who want to be part of that.

Maybe you're actively looking for a new opportunity.

Maybe you're not.

Either way, if you're an experienced technician and something about this sounds like the kind of shop you'd like to work in, we'd be happy to have a conversation.

No pressure. No complicated process.

Just an opportunity for us to learn a little about you—and for you to learn a little more about us.
