Field Technician - EPG

The EPG Field Technician is responsible for performing jobs involving the service and repair of equipment, working both independently and on a team. Examples of the types of machinery that the candidate must be able to evaluate, and repair include diesel engines, electric power generators, and allied products. Extensive on the job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning must be successfully completed to remain in the technician training program. The Technician will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Technician will advance in classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.

Essential Responsibilities & Expectations:

• Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures
• Orders and return parts for assigned jobs in a timely manner
• Performs the following tasks on basic components in work area including engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; perform minor adjustments
• Performs preventive maintenance service according to factory guidelines
• Demonstrates proper use of service information systems
• Works in field service as experienced Technician as required
• Adheres to and follows all applicable and required safety standards and procedures
• Works independently in the field as required
• Must have a valid driver's license to be eligible for hire.

Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or the equivalent required.
• Technical training preferred.

Experience:

• A minimum of one (1) year's work experience involving mechanical repairs or a combination of relevant experience and equivalent technical education is required.
• Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills are required

Skills & Competencies:

• Intermediate engine, transmission, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic, and repair skills
• Written communication skills
• Basic computer skills

Job Training:

• Area specific technical training
• OSHA and MSHA required training
• Vendor technical sites (Infocast, Liftnet, SIMSi, etc.)

Safety Summary:

• Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in a Service Department shop or on the location of customer job sites. Exposure to physical risk and all-weather conditions is associated with this position. Standing on hard surfaces for prolonged periods of time often required.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to speak, listen, write and type effectively. Ability to safely reach, kneel, grasp, and stoop as required by the position. Ability to safely lift up to 75lbs as required by the position. Ability to safely climb on and under heavy equipment as required by the position.
• Job Hazards: Material handling and lifting risks, chemical exposure dangers, construction-related hazards, cranes, hoisting, and heavy-equipment dangers, noise hazards, eye-injury risks, slip, trip, and fall hazards, moving and stationary machinery risks, respiratory hazards, cuts, lacerations, and amputation risks, strains, sprains, and ergonomic injuries, caught-in or caught-by (line of fire) incidents, heat exhaustion and heat-related illness.
