Diesel Mechanic Technician

Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. This role offers weekly pay, stable company, and excellent benefits. Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance, diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers where applicable, and completes detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision. Replace defective components as instructed and perform facility maintenance duties. Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints; utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation. Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT). Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels, and demonstrate ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents. Support other duties as required, including Service Island support. Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220) and complete 2 OEM On-Line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred. Basic tools required. Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake & tire work) and basic diagnostics and repairs of AC and electrical systems. Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred. All other certification as required by location required. Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment. Knowledge of and ability to apply computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire. Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years). Compensation & Benefits Hourly Pay: $30.50 per hour. Certification Bonus up to $100 per new ASE Certification (up to $700). Quarterly Bonus up to $500, four times per year. Schedule: Monday - Friday; Second Shift 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm. Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days. 80 hours PTO your first year, starting Day 1. Yearly merit pay increases. 401(k) company match.
