Known for delivering technically challenging projects and exceptional client service, Campos EPC partners with major energy operators throughout North America to design, develop, and execute critical infrastructure projects.This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pipeline engineer to take a leadership role in the design and execution of natural gas transmission and high-pressure distribution projects while working alongside multidisciplinary teams and industry experts.Position SummaryThe Pipeline Engineer III will provide engineering leadership and technical expertise for the design, development, and execution of gas transmission and high-pressure distribution pipeline projects. This role will serve as a project engineer and technical lead, managing engineering activities from scope development through construction support and as-built documentation.The successful candidate will collaborate closely with clients, project managers, engineers, regulatory agencies, and construction teams to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective pipeline infrastructure solutions. This position also includes mentoring junior engineers and supporting business development and client relationship efforts.Location: Chicago, IL; Naperville, IL; Columbus, OH; or Milwaukee, WI (Hybrid)Travel: Up to 25%Key ResponsibilitiesLead engineering and design efforts for gas transmission and high-pressure distribution pipeline projectsServe as the project engineer and technical lead for assigned projectsManage engineering teams and coordinate multidisciplinary project activitiesDesign launcher and receiver stations, including barrels and associated piping systemsDevelop pipeline replacement designs for make-piggable projects and integrity management programsDesign hydrostatic testing programs to establish Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP)Perform engineering calculations including:Pipe sizingValve sizingHydraulic analysisHydrostatic test designAssist with routing studies, feasibility evaluations, and FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) activitiesPrepare and review engineering deliverables including:Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)Piping drawingsIsometric fabrication drawingsBills of Materials (BOMs)General Arrangement drawingsCoordinate engineering efforts with civil, structural, and EI&C disciplinesSupport permitting, license acquisition, and land rights requirementsInterface with regulatory and permitting agencies as requiredDevelop weld procedures and fabrication requirements for launcher and receiver installation projectsCoordinate prefabricated assemblies with internal and external fabrication teamsEnsure constructability considerations are incorporated into designs for rural, mountainous, and urban environmentsProvide field support during project development and construction activitiesMeet directly with clients and stakeholders to communicate project status, technical recommendations, and potential scope changesAssist with proposal development and Request for Proposal (RFP) responsesMentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teamsApply project management principles to ensure successful project execution, schedule adherence, and quality deliverablesRequired QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited universityMinimum of 7 years of experience in gas pipeline engineering and designExperience with natural gas transmission and high-pressure steel distribution pipeline projectsExperience managing pipeline and integrity management (ILI) projects from scope development through construction and as-built completionStrong understanding of pipeline materials selection, constructability, and engineering best practicesExperience leading engineering teams and coordinating multidisciplinary projectsStrong client-facing communication and relationship management skillsAbility to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordTechnical RequirementsStrong working knowledge of:Natural gas transmission systemsHigh-pressure distribution pipeline designPipeline integrity and make-piggable projectsLauncher and receiver station designHydraulic modeling and engineering calculationsHydrostatic testing methodologiesRegulatory compliance and permitting requirementsPipeline construction techniques, including trenchless installation methodsMega Rule compliance requirementsExtensive knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including:ASMEANSIAPINFPACSAASME B31.3ASME B31.4ASME B31.849 CFR Parts 192, 193, and 195NFPA 59AAbility to prepare and review:PFDsP&IDsPiping drawingsIsometric drawingsBills of MaterialsGeneral Arrangement drawingsPreferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one yearExperience working as a consulting engineerExperience in seconded engineering roles3+ years of experience with plastic gas distribution pipeline designBasic proficiency with CAD softwareExperience supporting permitting and regulatory agency coordinationPrevious project engineering or project management experienceWhy Join Campos EPC?Campos EPC offers industry-leading compensation, a collaborative team environment, and a performance-driven culture that rewards innovation, leadership, and technical excellence.
