POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Plant Manager supports the Plant Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the food production facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. This position helps coordinate production activities, supervise employees, maintain product quality, ensure food safety and sanitation compliance, and achieve production schedules and operational goals.

The ideal candidate has experience in food manufacturing, food processing, or a related production environment, along with strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The Assistant Plant Manager works closely with production, warehouse, quality assurance, sanitation, and maintenance teams to maintain efficient and compliant plant operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Production and Plant Operations

• Assist the Plant Manager with daily production planning, scheduling, and execution.
• Monitor production output, labor utilization, equipment performance, and workflow.
• Ensure production schedules and established quality standards are met.
• Identify production bottlenecks and recommend process improvements.
• Monitor raw material usage, packaging supplies, production yields, and waste.
• Coordinate with warehouse and other departments to ensure materials are available for production.
• Maintain organized, efficient, and productive work areas.

2. Employee Supervision and Leadership

• Supervise production employees and team leads as assigned.
• Assign work, communicate production priorities, and monitor performance.
• Assist with employee onboarding, training, cross-training, and development.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, productivity, and compliance with company policies.
• Provide coaching and communicate performance concerns to the Plant Manager and Human Resources.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a professional work environment.
• Assist with staffing plans and work schedules to meet production requirements.

3. Food Safety and Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulations, company policies, and established procedures.
• Support Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation programs, and applicable preventive controls.
• Follow applicable HACCP plans and food safety procedures.
• Monitor product handling, temperature controls, allergen controls, labeling, traceability, and storage requirements, as applicable.
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance to investigate product defects, customer complaints, and quality concerns.
• Assist with corrective and preventive actions and maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Immediately report suspected contamination, product safety risks, and significant quality issues to the appropriate management personnel.
• Support internal inspections, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.

4. Sanitation and Facility Maintenance

• Ensure production areas, equipment, utensils, and workstations are cleaned and sanitized according to established procedures.
• Monitor sanitation schedules and verify completion of required cleaning activities.
• Coordinate with sanitation and maintenance personnel to resolve facility and equipment issues.
• Report equipment malfunctions and support preventive maintenance activities.
• Promote proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Help maintain facility cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness.

5. Inventory and Warehouse Coordination

• Coordinate with warehouse and purchasing personnel to maintain adequate raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and supplies.
• Monitor inventory usage, product yields, scrap, and waste.
• Support accurate inventory tracking and product identification.
• Ensure appropriate storage and temperature control for materials and finished products, as applicable.
• Coordinate with shipping and logistics teams to support timely order fulfillment.
• Help investigate material shortages and inventory discrepancies.
