Technology Teacher - Spark Academy

Heritage Schools, Inc.

Job Description

Job Description

Technology Teacher

Spark Academy | Heritage Community

SCHEDULE

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Exempt position)
Year-round academic calendar with two-week breaks between terms.

NATURE & SCOPE

Spark Academy is a co-ed, residential treatment program specializing in autism and neurodiversity. We offer a year-round, project-based learning curriculum in a co-teacher classroom that fosters confidence, creativity, and a love for learning. As an accredited special education school, we provide individualized support to help students thrive academically and personally-with students coming first and curriculum coming second.

The Technology Teacher will provide engaging, hands-on technology instruction in a co-taught, project-based learning environment while supporting students with varying special education needs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creativity, problem-solving, and thinking outside the box.

Rather than teaching to high-stakes standardized tests, you'll have the freedom to make technology meaningful and practical through projects that encourage curiosity, collaboration, and real-world skills. You'll have the opportunity to build strong relationships with students, help them discover their strengths, and make learning something they genuinely enjoy.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and teach engaging, hands-on technology lessons and projects.

  • Adapt instruction to support students with level 1 autism and other neurodiversities.

  • Create projects that build problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and technical skills.

  • Incorporate technology into cross-curricular and project-based learning experiences.

  • Collaborate with the Special Education Coordinator to implement IEP goals and track student progress.

  • Create a structured and supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and success.

  • Partner with Residential Coaches, therapists, and other team members to support students' academic and social-emotional development.

  • Encourage students to explore technology, develop confidence, and discover their individual strengths.

  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.

  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-related activities.

  • Supervise students during class and designated school activities to ensure their safety and well-being.

  • Uphold Heritage's mission and values, modeling professionalism and ethical behavior.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.

  • Teaching license or endorsement preferred, or willingness to obtain one.

  • Experience with technology education, project-based learning, special education, or residential treatment is highly desirable.

  • Experience working with neurodiverse students is a plus.

  • Must be at least 20 years old.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Comfortable learning and teaching a variety of technology tools and applications.

COMPETENCIES
  • Creative and adaptable approach to teaching.

  • Ability to engage neurodiverse students through hands-on and experiential learning.

  • Strong problem-solving and technology skills.

  • Ability to balance structure with flexibility.

  • Patience and an even temperament when supporting students through frustration or emotional escalation.

  • Strong relationship-building skills and a genuine desire to help students succeed.

BENEFITS
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance packages.

  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with company matching contributions.

  • Company-paid short-term and long-term disability coverage.

  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching (eligible after one year).

  • 8 paid holidays per year, plus accrued PTO starting on Day 1.

  • 8 weeks of VTO when school is out.

  • Sundance Mountain Resort corporate passes.

  • Discounted Provo Recreation Center membership.

We are committed to providing a safe and secure work environment for all employees. As a result, all new hires are required to successfully complete a background check, which may include verification of employment history, education, and criminal records.
