AED Certified Emergency Department Technician
Join a dynamic healthcare team in the Pacific Northwest region as an Emergency Department Technician. This role involves providing direct patient care and supporting clinical staff in a busy emergency setting. You will work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Physicians, contributing to a positive and efficient patient care environment.
Job Summary
As an Emergency Department Technician, you will perform a variety of technical and patient care tasks including CPR, vital signs monitoring, cardiac telemetry, EKG acquisition, wound care, and assisting with procedures. You will also support patient comfort and safety by assisting with personal care, mobility, and responding promptly to patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care within scope and competency under clinical supervision.
- Perform technical skills such as telemetry monitoring, phlebotomy (if certified), dressing changes, and bladder scanning.
- Assist with triage, patient transport, and room turnover to maintain efficient department flow.
- Support patients with personal hygiene, mobility, and meal assistance.
- Maintain accurate documentation, transcribe physician orders, and coordinate diagnostic testing and procedures.
- Participate actively in team efforts, respond to emergency codes, and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control standards.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C), Medical Assistant Certified (MA-C), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program with active certification.
- Minimum two years of patient care experience, preferably in acute care, emergency department, or first responder roles.
- Telemetry experience is a plus.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current Nursing Assistant (NA-C), Medical Assistant Certified (MA-C), or EMT certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
- Medical Assistant Phlebotomy certification to be obtained within six months of hire.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of patient care practices and ability to maintain required competencies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and medical telemetry equipment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs, stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks consistent with patient care duties.
