Job SummaryThe Managed Services Engineer – Azure Storage is responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise file storage solutions in Microsoft Azure, with a primary focus on Qumulo file storage and native Azure Storage services.This role partners closely with customers and internal teams to ensure storage platforms are secure, performant, scalable, and cost-effective. The ideal candidate brings strong Azure storage expertise, operational discipline, and a customer-first mindset, with a passion for continuous improvement and automation.This is a fully remote role requiring a dedicated, distraction-free home office and active participation in video meetings. Occasional travel may be required.Role DescriptionDesign, deploy, and support Qumulo file storage clusters in Microsoft AzureAdminister Azure Storage services, including Azure Files, Blob Storage, and Managed DisksMonitor, troubleshoot, and resolve storage performance, capacity, and availability issuesOptimize storage environments for performance, resiliency, security, and cost efficiencyLead and contribute to managed services projects and service improvement initiativesEngage directly with customers through meetings, incidents, change requests, and project deliveryDevelop, maintain, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for storage operationsImplement monitoring, alerting, and reporting using Azure Monitor and Log AnalyticsSupport Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation initiatives for repeatable deploymentsTrack time and document work accurately in SHI systemsParticipate in audits, compliance activities, and a rotating on-call scheduleEscalate complex issues and collaborate with senior engineers and architects when neededProvide support and guidance to lower-tier engineers as neededTechnical Focus AreasQumulo file storage in Microsoft AzureAzure Files, Azure Blob Storage, Managed DisksAzure Virtual Machines and NetworkingIdentity, security, and access controls related to storageMonitoring, logging, and alertingAutomation and Infrastructure as CodeBehaviors and CompetenciesCollaboration: Proactively seek diverse perspectives, facilitate open communication, and drive consensus.Initiative: Seek challenges, initiate projects, and contribute innovative ideas.Communication: Effectively convey complex ideas to diverse audiences and support strong communication between teams.Customer Service: Seek customer feedback, empathize, and tailor solutions to unique needs.Technical Troubleshooting: Detect potential issues, implement preventive measures, and devise innovative solutions.Time Management: Use time effectively, balance multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.Organization: Coordinate multiple projects, delegate tasks, and employ advanced organizational tools.Willingness to Learn: Regularly integrate new skills, accept feedback, and adapt accordingly.Self-Development: Actively seek feedback and use it constructively for personal growth.Skill Level RequirementsExperience deploying Qumulo file storage in AzureProficiency with Azure Files, Blob Storage, Managed Disks, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Azure BackupExperience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or ARM/BicepAutomation and scripting with PowerShell, Python, and/or Azure CLIWorking knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, SMB/NFS permissions, and access controlStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong sense of ownership, accountability, and customer focusCollaborative, team-oriented mindsetAdaptability and commitment to continuous learningAbility to work effectively in a remote, camera-on environmentOther RequirementsBachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience3–5 years of experience in a managed services or Azure-focused engineering roleHands-on experience supporting production Azure storage environmentsExperience using version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps)Up to 10% travel annuallyAbility to work occasional overtime or holidays as business needs requireParticipation in a rotating on-call scheduleMust maintain utilization targets set by leadershipMust successfully pass a CJIS background check upon hire and annually thereafterCertificationsMicrosoft Azure Associate-level certification (AZ-104 or equivalent), or ability to obtain within 3 monthsITIL v3+ certification, or ability to obtain within 6 monthsPreferred RequirementsExperience supporting large-scale or performance-sensitive file workloadsFamiliarity with IT Glue, Autotask, Datto RMM, and documentation toolsExperience with monitoring, alerting, and automation practicesExperience supporting regulated environments (e.g., CJIS, FERPA)CompensationThe estimated annual pay range for this position is $125,000 – $155,000, which includes a base salary and bonus/commissions. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual.
