Motion Designer

Purple, Rock, Scissors has an exciting contract opportunity for a Motion Designer based in either San Francisco /Bay Area or New York City to support a large tech client of ours. This is a contract role to support a VR /mixed reality hardware product effort. This role requires someone who has an understanding of visual design principles, strong motion skills, and a thoughtful approach to the user experience in all facets of their work. The current team is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Program Managers, and Engineers, who all care deeply about the people who use their products. This team’s mission is to give people superhuman abilities by making information instantly and intuitively accessible. They are focused on making immersive computing accessible to billions of people through mobile immersive XR devices. The day-to-day will be taking foundational design work and fleshing it out. The primary tools used for this engagement are Figma, Blender and After Effects. There is a mid-level of complexity in the UI/UX needs and we are looking for a mid-to-senior level Designer who can own more open-ended tasks and responsibilities. Onsite Contract (W9) Opportunity* : through June 30, 2026 with potential to extend further. Not to exceed 40 hours per week. *Please note that there is no holiday or time off pay with this opportunity. This is a contract, W9 engagement and it will require extensive onboarding, background/education/employment checks, and credentialing. Responsibilities Work directly with Visual design leads to align and prioritize work Drive design spec development and create production ready assets Communicate the user experience to partners at various stages of the design process by making compelling designs and concepts Clearly rationalize and justify design work, and advocate for users’ needs Work with the wider XR UX team to craft seamless and consistent experiences that can scale across the design system Skills Figma After Effects Photoshop Blender or C4D is a plus Google Slides Qualifications 6 years of experience in visual design or UX 3D experience is a nice-to-have but not required Consent to SMS and Phone Call Communications By submitting your application, you acknowledge and consent to Purple, Rock, Scissors (PRPL) collecting and using your email address and phone number for recruitment communication purposes.
