Nurse Tech: Cardiac ICU - Weekend Nights

Overview Nurse Tech — Shift: Weekend Nights (Fri - Sun 1900 - 0730). Department: Cardiac ICU. Compensation: Base pay range $16.68 - $26.31/hr, based on experience. Shift differentials: Additional $2.00 per hour for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Responsibilities Assist nursing staff/ancillary staff in transferring patients, pickup, and delivery of patient meal trays, and assist with patient feeding as directed. Organize workload and manage multiple tasks while maintaining a clutter-free, orderly environment; promptly answer unit telephones and accurately relay messages to patients, families, visitors, staff, and personnel upon request. Educate and train new staff members in the responsibilities of the Care Team Associate role. Perform other duties as delegated by nursing staff and unit management in routine and emergent situations. Perform patient position changes, placement and removal of patient equipment, daily hygiene care, simple non-sterile dressing changes, finger stick glucose checks; may perform venipuncture to obtain a blood sample; maintain quality control checks; deliver/retrieve lab specimens and supplies as requested. Enter information accurately into the bed-management system in a timely manner. Respond promptly to patient call lights and address patient needs using positive guest relations skills; ensure patient vital signs, intake, output, height, and weight are obtained and documented as directed. May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents. Qualifications One of the following: Completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing course within 90 days; or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA or CNA exam registration); or Proof of certification as a Patient Care Technician (PCT); or Direct patient care experience in the past three (3) years as a medical assistant, nursing assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician; or Completion within the last three (3) years, or within 180 days, of an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) training program and clinical log; or Nursing licensure candidate who was unsuccessful on state licensure examinations in the past three (3) years; or Completion of a nursing program outside the United States and awaiting licensure in this country. Completion of an above qualifications pathway, including 100 hours of patient care experience or a supervised clinical log, within 180 days as a condition of continued employment in this job classification. Preferred Qualifications Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The facility operates 24/7, with rotating shifts and occasional work during holidays or inclement weather.
