Equipment Operator

Equipment Operator PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multiple pieces of construction equipment. The Equipment Operator is proficient in the use of a diverse range of construction equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, rollers, graders, skid steers and other pieces of equipment. Typical Duties Operate multiple pieces of construction equipment used in construction in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations. Ensure proper operation of equipment by performing pre-operation and regular checks on their functionality. Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned. Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance. Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the equipment. Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company's Policies and Procedures. Promote, execute and adhere to the company's Safety Program. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience 3+ years of experience operating equipment. Knowledge of proper operation of equipment as well as safety standards. Thorough knowledge of construction. OSHA competent person trained in trench and excavation safety. Physical Demands Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to walk, stand, talk, hear, see, sit, climb, balance, stoop, and kneel. Lift or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Comments: Travel to various worksites may be required.
