Plumbing Design Engineer (Design Engineer II / III) This position is based in the Greater Los Angeles/Orange County/Inland Empire areas. The final title, responsibilities, and compensation will be determined based on your experience, technical expertise, licensure, and overall qualifications. Design Buildings That Shape Communities As a Plumbing Design Engineer, you'll design plumbing systems for multifamily residential communities while collaborating with architects, project managers, field teams, and fellow engineers from concept through construction. While multifamily construction is our primary focus, we also welcome candidates with experience designing plumbing systems for commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, hospitals, higher education, student housing, hospitality, mixed-use developments, or other complex building types. What You'll Do Design plumbing systems for multifamily and other complex building projects from schematic design through construction documents. Prepare engineering calculations, technical drawings, and construction documentation. Develop and coordinate plumbing system models using AutoCAD and Revit. Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines. Participate in BIM coordination, project meetings, and design reviews. Research plumbing materials, equipment, and system solutions that support project objectives. Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and support construction administration activities. Apply plumbing codes, engineering standards, and sustainable design principles to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. Contribute to improving engineering standards, design quality, and project delivery processes. What Success Looks Like Within your first year, you'll: Successfully design plumbing systems for multiple multifamily and commercial building projects. Become a trusted engineering resource within the Plumbing Engineering team. Build strong relationships with architects, project managers, contractors, and fellow engineers. Continue expanding your technical expertise while taking on increasing project responsibility. Help support the continued growth of AMPAM's Plumbing Engineering team. What You Bring Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 3+ years of experience designing plumbing or building systems within an MEP consulting or design-build environment. Experience with multifamily residential projects is highly desirable; however, candidates with commercial, healthcare, hospitals, higher education, hospitality, mixed-use, or other complex building experience are also encouraged to apply. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or active pursuit of licensure is preferred. Technical Skills Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit. Strong understanding of plumbing systems and building design principles. Ability to prepare engineering calculations and construction documents. Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Compensation The expected hiring range for this position is $80,000 - $130,000 annually. Actual compensation will depend on level, experience, certifications and technical expertise. AMPAM is growing and is open to hiring engineers at multiple levels.
