Teller Job Description

The teller position serves as the front line of the bank and is often responsible for customers' first impressions. Tellers provide personable, competent, and trustworthy service while handling multiple tasks efficiently and accurately. This role requires engaging customers in sincere conversation and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Process customer requests and transactions in a positive, accurate, and professional manner.
• Interact with customers to identify needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
• Maintain knowledge of company procedures and processes to accurately assist customers.
• Compile data from records to prepare logs and reports, and reconcile the cash drawer.
• Balance the vault as assigned.
• Meet or exceed individual and branch goals assigned to the teller position.
• Ensure all departmental documents and activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including completion of required compliance training.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, general business correspondence, journals, and government regulations.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations with customers, clients, and other employees in the organization.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous cash handling, customer service, and sales experience preferred.

Computer Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to use a 10-key calculator or keypad accurately.

Other Qualifications

• Ability to present a friendly, professional image.
• Occasional travel for meetings, training, bank conversions, and acquisition support.
• Ability to provide support and guidance at other branches within the market.
