About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled  Registered Nurse (RN) for the  Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) . The RN will provide specialized, critical care to patients with complex cardiovascular conditions, including post-operative cardiac surgery patients and those requiring advanced life support systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response

• Perform and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias
• Provide advanced cardiac monitoring (FloTrac/Vigileo)
• Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure

Cardiovascular Care

• Care for patients undergoing CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement
• Manage ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD/RVAD devices
• Assist with heart transplant cases
• Monitor CVP and Swan-Ganz lines
• Provide pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Perform sheath removal
• Manage epicardial pacing wires
• Deliver care for post-cardiac surgery patients

Endocrine / Metabolic

• Administer and manage IV insulin protocols

Gastrointestinal

• Care for GI surgery and transplant patients (liver, pancreas)
• Manage liver failure cases

Genitourinary / Renal

• Manage acute kidney injury and renal failure patients
• Perform CRRT/CVVHD therapy
• Provide pre/post hemodialysis care
• Monitor intake/output and urine output

IV Therapy

• Manage PICC lines, ports, and central lines
• Administer blood products
• Initiate and maintain IV access
• Administer TPN/lipids
• Manage arterial lines

Medication Administration

• Administer emergency medications
• Manage continuous IV sedation and paralytics
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Monitor procedural sedation

Respiratory / Thoracic Care

• Manage ventilators and airway support (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC)
• Perform suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Interpret ABGs
• Assist with chest tube procedures
• Care for tracheostomy patients
• Manage respiratory failure, pulmonary embolism, and pulmonary edema

Professional Skills & Responsibilities

• Infection prevention and isolation protocols
• Phlebotomy and lab monitoring (INR, PT/PTT, fibrinogen)
• Manage massive transfusion protocols
• Monitor high-output drains
• Recognize infection in immunocompromised patients
• Monitor for abdominal compartment syndrome

Requirements

• Active RN License
• Certifications Required:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS (preferred)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
