Cosmetology Instructor Job Description

Job Title: Cosmetology Instructor

Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Cosmetology Instructor to educate, mentor, and inspire students pursuing careers in the beauty industry. The ideal candidate will provide hands-on training and classroom instruction in cosmetology techniques, safety practices, salon professionalism, and state licensing preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach cosmetology theory and practical skills, including hair cutting, styling, coloring, chemical treatments, skincare, nail care, and makeup application.
• Follow and Develop lesson plans, classroom activities, and student evaluations aligned with state board requirements.
• Demonstrate proper sanitation, safety, and infection-control procedures.
• Supervise students during hands-on salon training and clinic operations.
• Assess student progress through practical demonstrations, written tests, and performance evaluations.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records.
• Prepare students for state board licensing examinations and industry careers.
• Stay current with beauty industry trends, products, techniques, and regulations.
• Foster a positive, professional, and inclusive learning environment.
• Assist with curriculum updates, school events, and recruitment activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Current PA Cosmetology License required.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of professional cosmetology experience preferred but will train the right candidate
• Strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of state board regulations and industry standards.
• Ability to motivate and mentor students from diverse backgrounds.
