Junior Applied AI Engineer (m/f/d)

Support the Applied AI Engineering team in building AI-powered internal tools and automated workflows that make home24's commercial and operational teams faster, more accurate and more creative. Our new Junior Applied AI Engineer (m/f/d) is a hands‑on contributor who learns how to turn prototypes into reliable production workflows under guidance. You support architecture and implementation work, build prompts and integrations, run evaluations, document results, and help senior team members translate internal stakeholder challenges into well‑scoped AI tooling opportunities. Your Responsibilities You support internal stakeholders across Catalog Operations, Buying, Marketing, Content & Creative, Customer Service, and Operations in translating operational pain points into well‑scoped AI tooling opportunities You assist in prototyping and evaluating internal AI tools for various use cases (e.g., image validation, data extraction, product data enrichment, marketing asset/video generation, and document analysis) using platforms like Google’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform or Amazon Bedrock You support structured benchmarks and evaluations across leading foundation models (Google Gemini/Imagen/Veo, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, open‑source families) comparing quality, latency, cost, and reliability You maintain evaluation datasets (golden test sets) and support prompt/context engineering work by drafting, iterating, and documenting reusable instructions, structured‑output patterns, and basic Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines You support the design and implementation of automated workflows in n8n, connecting AI steps with home24 data sources (PIM, ERP, asset management) and setting up human‑in‑the‑loop review queues You assist in the testing, gradual rollout, and feedback collection of AI tools while tracking key performance metrics like output quality, throughput, cost, and hours saved per team You document prompt libraries, n8n templates, and tool specifications for cross‑company reusability, while continuously benchmarking external AI/ML industry developments Your Profile You bring 0‑2 years of professional, internship, or project experience in software engineering, applied AI/ML, automation, data engineering, or product‑adjacent technical work You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a comparable discipline (bootcamp graduates, self‑taught builders, and candidates with visible side‑project portfolios are equally welcome) You have a solid working knowledge of Python (sufficient to build prototypes, integrate APIs, and read code); JavaScript/TypeScript is a plus You possess a practical understanding of foundation models (LLMs, multimodal, image/video generation) and AI platforms like Google’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform or Amazon Bedrock You demonstrate hands‑on familiarity with workflow automation tools, ideally n8n (or Zapier/Make), and a basic understanding of vector search, embeddings, and RAG pipelines You understand engineering fundamentals, including Git, REST APIs, webhooks, CI/CD basics, and standard cloud concepts (preferably GCP) You show a strong curiosity about operational workflows, with a structured approach to breaking down team pain points into user stories and technical specifications You are data‑driven and confident in interpreting KPI dashboards, cost metrics, and quality evaluation results You communicate clearly and effectively when interacting with both engineering teams and non‑technical business stakeholders You have a genuine passion for AI with a proactive learning mindset, driven by curiosity to follow the field and build innovative tools You ideally possess a proven track record of shipping an AI side project or building non‑trivial automation workflows that orchestrate AI steps and business systems (strong plus) What we offer you Your impact The chance to make an impact in a highly motivated team of professionals An open‑minded culture ready to incorporate new and creative ideas Your growth Extensive learning opportunities from our home24 academy and external partners Room for growth and development within your role through regular feedback rounds Your path Hybrid working model: you have the flexibility to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays in our standard working mode.
