Plant Accountant – Plover, WI

ESC has an exciting direct-hire opportunity for a Plant Accountant with Plant Controller-level scope and responsibilities with our premier multinational packaging client in Plover, WI . This is a high-visibility opportunity to join an established manufacturing organization and play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the plant.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 depending on experience

The Plant Accountant will be responsible for plant-level accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and inventory control within a publicly traded manufacturing environment. This position plays an important role in the monthly close process, standard costing, financial analysis, corporate reporting, and maintaining accurate financial records.

This role partners closely with the Plant Manager, Director of Operations, and Corporate Finance to analyze production costs, labor, materials, overhead, and inventory. The Plant Accountant will use financial insight to support decision-making, cost control, and operational efficiency while gaining broad exposure to the financial operations of the plant.

What You'll Do as a Plant Accountant

\n
• Manage monthly close activities, plant financial statements, and financial reporting in accordance with corporate timelines
\n
• Support inventory accuracy, including quarterly physical inventories, audit activities, and variance resolution
\n
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and annual operating plan submissions
\n
• Maintain standard costs, cost accounting processes, and bills of materials (BOMs)
\n
• Monitor and maintain compliance with SOX internal controls and support audit readiness
\n
• Participate in production meetings and conduct regular plant walkthroughs
\n
• Partner with Plant and Operations leadership on manufacturing finance, cost management, and operational performance
\n
• Analyze labor, material, overhead, and inventory costs to identify opportunities for improved cost control and efficiency
\n
• Provide day-to-day oversight of the Plant Accounting Clerk and Plant Planner
\n
• Collaborate with Corporate Finance to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with internal controls
\n
• Support special projects and other financial initiatives as needed
\n

What You Bring

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, but NOT required.
\n
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory controls, and month-end close
\n
• Working knowledge of GAAP
\n
• Experience working within SOX or other internal control environments
\n
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
\n
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
\n
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively across departments
\n
• Prior people management or team leadership experience preferred
\n
• Experience with JD Edwards or another ERP system preferred
\n
• Manufacturing or plant accounting experience preferred
\n
