Back Office Certified Medical Assistant

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises. Responsibilities include obtaining patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and preparing the patient for a physical exam. Explains prescribed procedures and treatments to patients. Administers oral medications and injections. Conducts EKG and ortho-glass splinting system. Ensures all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure. Draws blood and prepares labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing. Performs laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions. Responds to all lab messages and call back requests. Performs all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations. Ensures patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure. Conducts physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis. Prepares exam rooms; sterilizes instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures. Maintains complete and accurate documentation. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Ability to help cover front CMA duties if needed. Cross training in Radiology (limited X-Ray and front desk operations). Qualifications include Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required. High school diploma or equivalent; additional medical office training preferred. Previous experience in urgent care, primary care, or fast-paced healthcare environment preferred. Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-focused attitude. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently under pressure.
