Pharmacy Technician

Dispensing prescription medications in a high volume pharmacy. Provides a high level of member service.

Job duties include dispensing prescription medications, measuring and counting medication into appropriate containers, labeling prescriptions and applying appropriate warning stickers, verifying prescriptions and refills with physicians by phone, selecting substitutions when necessary, obtaining patient medical history and maintaining confidential computer records, checking prescriptions and over the counter medications for drug interactions, counseling customers on proper medication usage, providing prompt and courteous customer service, answering customer questions about over-the-counter medication and product location, addressing other customer concerns including insurance issues, preserving customer confidentiality, assisting in perpetual inventory of Schedule II to V controlled substances, participating in twice yearly inventory of Department 92 and 93, meeting proper department production, record keeping, and product storage procedures and standards, following safety and security procedures, assisting with counter duties as necessary, executing proper Central Fill and DUR functions, delivering immunizations, approving and submitting orders for equipment and supplies, ordering products using a computer system, coordinating proper maintenance and repairs for machinery and equipment, acting as Pharmacist-in-Charge during part of shift, when Pharmacy Manager is not present, ensuring proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials, ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery, assisting with department duties as necessary, assisting in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.
