Job Summary and Qualifications

Our Clinical Lab Scientists (level II) perform clinical testing in one or more of the following areas: blood bank, chemistry, serology, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, special chemistry, microbiology and manual tests.Our team is amazing; we consider ourselves a family who work hard to support each other and we are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. • You will perform automated, semi-automated and manual procedures in the fields of bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, coagulation, serology, chemistry, urinalysis, immunology, and immunohematology. According to established procedures and policies
• You will perform preventative maintenance on laboratory instrumentation, interpret results as to their accuracy, acceptability and critical limits and organize work to meet established deadlines and record all data obtained
• You will work actively and be cooperative with nursing and other hospital staff to ensure timely patient care as well as assist with regulatory compliance
• You will be responsible for training lab personnel and are expected to perform in-charge assignment in the absence of a manager

What qualifications you will need:

• Valid California State Department of Health Services Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.
• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of the laboratory organization, policies and procedures including technical safety procedures and information system functions.
• Supervisory skills in areas of assuming responsibility, exercising independent judgment, making judicious decisions when responding to issues and problems and flexing staff to accommodate workload.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals including physicians, hospital staff, laboratory staff, hospital administration and clients.
• Analytical skills are necessary to resolve technical and non-technical issues and problems.
• Successful completion of a supervised one (1) year clinical laboratory internship.
• Minimum five years’ experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
• Ability to learn and utilize computerized patient care management system.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Must effectively read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.
