Transportation Supervisor

The Transportation Supervisor supervises the bus operators, special trips and programs, scheduling training, reviewing timesheets, conducting appraisals, reviews, investigations and assesses adverse action. This position is considered mission essential.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Able to communicate easily with others, and solve practical problems.

• Personnel processes; pertinent policies, and applicable education and transportation regulations and/or laws.

• Performing single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

• Satisfactorily performing the functions of the job that include: operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications, planning and managing projects, budgeting and financial management and developing effective working relationships.

• Schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events.

• Consider a number of factors when using equipment.

• Operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods.

•Problem solve, analyze issues and create action plans (Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate).

• Perform the functions of the job that include: communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; dealing with frequent interruptions and changing priorities; and maintaining confidentiality.

• Ability to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Supervises Bus operators and evaluates their performance.

• Monitors and evaluates bus routes via performance dashboards and makes appropriate changes.

• Investigates accidents and reviews parents' concerns.

• Provides payroll oversight for all bus operators, and special trips and programs.

• May be required to transport students to and from school and other events to ensure operations run smoothly.

• Provides training and ensures staff follows proper safety policies and procedures established by CANO, LDOE and the State Highway Patrol.

• Reviews onboard surveillance data for buses to ensure safety as the top priority for the District; coordinates student bus-related discipline issues with the driver and respective school administrator.

• Ensures that all buses are safe and in good mechanical condition and used effectively.

• Continually keeps abreast of changes and improvements in the transportation system that will contribute to greater safety.

• Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged long periods of standing and walking.
• Must be able to climb ladders, bend or crawl into awkward places at times.
• Heavy physical demands lifting of 50 lbs are more periodically.
• Able to occasionally move about inside the office and school building to meetings and other assigned duties
• Occasionally ascend stairs to migrate throughout the workspace
