Fire Alarm Service Technician

Fire Alarm Service TechnicianShambaugh & Son is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician to join our Fort Wayne Fire Protection team. In this role, you will perform inspections, testing, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with fire and life safety systems, strong technical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to interpret system drawings and specifications.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform on-site inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm, suppression and releasing systems as well as associated devices in accordance with industry standards.Responsible for reading and understanding assigned project documentation and work orders including scope of work for inspections and determine if additional information is needed.Manage daily call activity and program system products, including networking and programming.Report to assignment with required testing tools including suitable multi-meter, hand tools, printer, etcRead and interpret blueprints, diagrams, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operation/product manuals consistent with the level of training received.Prepare associated paperwork/forms for customer service activities.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsMinimum of high school diploma/GED; 2-4 year degree in a technical field from accredited college or universityNICET Certification preferredInstallation of low voltage systems, Fire/Life Safety Systems, Access Control Systems, Nurse Call Systems, Paging Systems, School Clock Systems, HVAC controls, elevator controllers, and Telephone Systems experience preferredFundamental knowledge of test equipment including multi-meters, digital analyzers, frequency meters, decibel meters, and communicating devices.Knowledge of the hazards associated with inadvertent system discharge for the purpose of inspection, testing and maintenance.Knowledge of Ohm's law, resistance and AC/DC circuitsProgramming experience is preferredAbility to handle stressful situations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Strong interpersonal and teamwork skillsProficient in the use of personal computers including such programs as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, IOS and database (software) programsMust have the ability to lift/move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 lbs.
