Standards & Practices Associate-(Legal and Compliance)

Pay Range:- $37.00/hr.- $38.00/hr.

6 months contract with possibility of extension

Position Summary

The Standards & Practices Associate is responsible for reviewing advertising content at all stages of development, from initial concepts and scripts through final creative, to assess overall acceptability and compliance. This includes evaluating content for tastefulness and appropriateness, truthfulness and accuracy of advertising claims, appropriate scheduling, and other applicable standards.

The role requires strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and apply policies while working closely with internal teams, advertising partners, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Review advertising materials at various stages of development, including concepts, scripts, and final creative.
• Evaluate advertising for:
• Truthfulness and accuracy of claims
• Tastefulness and appropriateness
• Appropriate scheduling
• Compliance with applicable standards and policies
• Interpret and apply advertising policies and guidelines during the creative review process.
• Identify both express and implied claims made within advertising content.
• Review and assess supporting documentation provided by advertisers, including:
• Clinical studies
• Market research
• Product testing
• Statistical analysis
• Other industry-specific data
• Evaluate whether supporting documentation adequately substantiates advertising claims.
• Address technical issues and matters involving taste, appropriateness, and community sensibilities.
• Maintain awareness of current events and societal considerations relevant to advertising content.
• Communicate creative review feedback, support requests, recommended revisions, and conclusions to:
• Internal team members
• Cross-functional partners
• Advertising clients
• Maintain accurate and thorough records of communications, claim support, documentation, and decisions throughout the clearance process.
• Manage a steady volume of assignments and inquiries in a fast-paced environment.
• Work independently while also collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) required.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional experience demonstrating:
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong attention to detail
• Interaction with internal and external stakeholders
• Working knowledge or familiarity with:
• Advertising or marketing laws
• FTC, FCC, and FDA regulations
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
• Highly detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to handle a consistent flow of inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical rigor and the ability to maintain thorough and accurate records.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with broadcast, advertising standards, or advertising production.
• JD degree.
• Master's or advanced degree, or relevant academic background, in:
• Familiarity with advertising review, standards, compliance, or creative clearance processes.
