SALARY RANGE $52,216 - $71,455 ANNUALLY

The firefighter/Private is responsible for performing tasks as directed by the commanding officer. These tasks include, but are not limited to; firefighting and salvage operations, rescue calls, emergency medical calls, public service calls, and other emergency services that protect life, property, and the environment. Some other duties may include, but not limited to; routine duties, regular training exercises, delivery of public education, and safety and disaster preparedness program.



Job Functions:

• The Firefighter/ Private is responsible for performing tasks as directed by the commanding officer.
• These tasks include, but are not limited to: firefighting and salvage operations , rescue calls, emergency medical calls, public service calls, and other emergency services that protect life, property, and the environment.
• Some other duties may include, but not be limited to: routine duties, regular training exercises, duties, regular training exercises, delivery of public education, and safety and disaster preparedness programs.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be 18 years old.
• Must hold a valid State Driver's License for a minimum of one year and must be a minimum Class D.
• Successful applicants who do not currently possess their Advanced EMT license will be granted a period of three years to obtain their state licensure.
• Must successfully be certified by the Tennessee Firefighting Personal Standards and education Commission as a Firefighter II with five (5) years of the hiring date.
• Must pass entry level written, agility, and oral examinations administered by the Bartlett Fire Department and the City of Bartlett Human Resources Department.
• Must pass a physical examination including a drug test, psychological examination, background check, driver's license check and lumbar stress test administered by a City of Bartlett examiner.
• Must have a minimum vision of 20/100 correctable to 20/30 as determined by an optometrist or ophthalmologist and certified on the Bartlett Fire Department Eye Exam Form.

Special Requirements:

• Must be able to tolerate the physical demands associated with the working conditions of emergency response. These conditions may be unpredictable in nature and last for long periods of time requiring extreme physical exertion without warm-up or breaks.
• Shall be able to perform tasks while wearing personal protective ensembles weighing 50 or more pounds.
• Shall be able to perform tasks while wearing self-contained breathing apparatus with the ability to tolerate increased respiratory load while carrying out operations as described in # 2.
• While wearing a personal protective ensemble as described in # 2 and # 3, must be able to carry out tasks that may include, but not be limited to:
  • a. Hose line operations, crawling, stooping, climbing, lifting and dragging, climbing on ladders of various lengths/heights, ventilation operations, and rescue of victims of all age groups.
  • b. Operation of heavy power and hand tools while standing, bending, and kneeling.
  • c. Lift objects 50 pounds or more.
  • d. Move an object 175 pounds-20 feet or more.
  • e. Work at heights of 12 feet or greater on ladders and buildings.
