Room Service Host

Summary Under the general supervision of the Patient Services Director and management team, the Room Service Host is responsible for communicating effectively, timely, and courteously with patients, family members, and staff when distributing menus to new admissions, obtaining meal choices, and delivering/collecting patient trays, snacks, and tube feeding products. The role also involves communicating with nursing staff regarding patients’ diet and meal delivery. Responsibilities Communicate effectively, timely, and courteously with patients, nursing staff, and family members to obtain meal choices and input them into the CBORD computerized Room Service tablet system. Verify patient satisfaction, identify meal service problems, and assist patients with missed meal reports for menu selections each meal. Communicate with the dietitian or dietetic technician for poor food/beverage/supplement intake. Relay patients’ special food requests that may not be allowed on their diet or provide diet education. Accurately enter and update all meal selections/orders/preferences/special requests for food in the CBORD system, maintaining current information regarding patient diet orders. Take orders or enter them into CBORD On Demand for patients unable to select meals verbally. Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment; perform cleaning, waste disposal, and equipment operations per departmental policies, including monitoring, rotating, and filling floor stock. Check refrigerators and dry storage areas in pantries for cleanliness and out‑of‑date product; discard as needed. Identify safety hazards and react to eliminate hazards quickly. Deliver all patient nourishments, snacks, and tube feeding products. Work well in a team environment. Perform other duties as assigned; may be required to fulfill duties of the Room Service Call Representative as needed. Minimum Qualifications Ability to read and communicate in English. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and the ability to compute percentages. High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Strong basic computer skills. Experience At least one‑year previous food service or customer service experience is required. CBORD experience preferred. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Mostly standing/walking with repetitive motions, reaching, pulling, and pushing. Speech, sight, and hearing to effectively communicate by varied means including telephone, in person, and fax. Physical ability to lift to 35 lbs. Exposure to patient environment.
