Tool and Die Maker This role focuses on the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of precision dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges that support high-volume production. You will use your journeyman-level tool and die expertise to ensure tooling meets tight tolerances, supports efficient manufacturing, and maintains consistent product quality. Fabricate, assemble, and repair dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to tight tolerances for high-volume production. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications to plan and execute tooling work. Operate manual and CNC machine tools, including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment, to produce and modify tooling components. Perform tooling tryouts and troubleshoot tooling issues to ensure production quality, reliability, and efficiency. Carry out die maintenance and repair activities, including manual machining and tooling adjustments in the toolroom. Maintain accurate records of tooling repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance activities. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support new tooling projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Inspect finished tooling using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and CMM equipment to verify conformance to specifications. Identify and resolve tooling-related issues on the production floor, applying strong troubleshooting and repair skills. Ensure safe and efficient operation of all tooling and equipment in accordance with shop procedures. Journeyman-level Tool and Die Maker experience with 5+ years in a tool and die role. Proven hands-on experience in tool and die making, including die fabrication, die maintenance, and repair. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications. Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools, including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment. Experience with manual machining, manual mill operations, and toolroom practices. Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for tooling and die-related issues in a production environment. Ability to inspect and verify tooling using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and CMM. Solid understanding of machining processes and die making techniques used in high-volume manufacturing. Capability to maintain accurate documentation of tooling repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance. Experince in high-volume production environments where tooling reliability and uptime are critical. Experience collaborating with engineering and production teams on new tooling projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Familiarity with tooling design concepts and the ability to provide feedback to improve tool performance and manufacturability. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality standards. Effective communication skills for coordinating work with cross-functional teams and documenting activities. Ability to work independently in a toolroom setting while managing multiple tooling priorities. You will join a production environment that values craftsmanship, precision, and continuous improvement, giving you the opportunity to apply and grow your journeyman-level skills. The role offers stable daytime hours and a clear structure, with the potential for long-term engagement through flexible engagement options. You will work closely with engineering and production teams, contributing directly to manufacturing quality and efficiency while developing your expertise with a variety of machining technologies. This position operates on a first shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in a production and toolroom environment that uses manual and CNC mills, lathes, grinders, EDM equipment, and precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and CMM. The setting is focused on high-volume manufacturing, where accurate tooling and reliable equipment are essential. The role may be structured as a direct placement or contract-to-hire over approximately 180 working days, providing flexibility in how you engage with the organization. This is a Permanent position based out of Union Grove, WI. The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $93600.00/yr. Company benefits are provided via PDF.
